The Bucs have released kicker Matt Bryant according to Steve Duemig, drive-time radio host at WDAE in Tampa.
The release of Bryant was foretold (foreseen? foreshadowed?) by Mike Florio last night. Bryant’s been working through a hamstring injury throughout camp and didn’t play at all in the preseason. Bucs coach Raheem Morris reportedly told Bryant that he would be hurting his chances of making the team if the Bucs didn’t see him kick in the final preseason game.
Bryant had one of the season’s most stirring performance of last season when, one day after the funeral for his three-month-old son, Tryon, he kicked three field goals in a win over Green Bay.
Mike Nugent, who did the kicking for Tampa, now takes over.
That last sentence makes no sense.
Classy
foregone.
Not shocked to see nearly everyone associated with the Gruden camp last year let go so new blood can drink the Kool-Aid. Morris had no intentions of keeping Bryant. 3-13 Bucs fans, 3-13.
That’s nice. The guy loses his son and to help the team he plays anyways. Then when he is hurt and can’t play the team cuts him. Classy move!
If he is hurt and can’t play you have to cut him.
If he could be ready before next Sunday I think the job should still be his.
Without that explanation it is another poor PR move made by the NFL.
Add to the list of criminals playing and pay per view being threatened and the biggest joke making season ticket holders pay full price for that last preseason home game.
Whoops lets go to a full commercial break with 20 seconds to go in the first quarter after a punt.
Ahhhh
