Jaguars looking to deal Brian Williams

When the Jaguars signed cornerback Brian Williams in 2006, he was considered one of the best free agent defenders available that year.

But time doesn’t stop for any player, and Williams’ loss of speed over the years has forced him to play a lot of safety. And he’s paid a little too much to be a part-time cornerback, part-time safety.

The NFL’s Jason La Canfora reports that Williams is being shopped around the league in advance of possibly getting cut. Williams is due $4 million in salary in 2009.

Jacksonville has struggled to find free agent help in their secondary, after also striking out with Drayton Florence.
