Welcome to cut day at PFT, where we bring you all the league's news big and small. Even when its about a kicker.
The Lions have cut kicker Billy Cundiff Saturday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The move is mildly surprising, because reports about starter Jason Hanson have indicated that his status for Week One is up in the air after knee surgery.
The move to drop Cundiff indicates that Hanson is getting healthier. Or that the team doesn't want to guarantee another kicker's salary for the rest of the season.
Detroit opens in the friendly confines (to kickers) of the Louisiana Superdome in eight days.

I think it was WR Looker that was hitting 43 yard field goals in practice.
You guys are way behind on all this stuff today.
Yeah, Looker was kicking in practice. I went to the Lions kickoff luncheon the other day and Hanson was walking around fine. I also remember seeing somewhere that hes not 100% but still good to go.
speaking of cut day, Florio's "do" could use a little clipping.
Or it can be ... Billy Cundiff is a bad, unreliable kicker.
