Bills owner Ralph Wilson apparently is feeling nervous about his team's ability to make good on the buzz that was generated during the first offseason of high hopes since the days of Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, and Andre Reed.
According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, WIlson summoned coach Dick Jauron, G.M. Russ Brandon, and two assistant coaches to the owner's home in Detroit for a meeting regarding the team's subpar preseason.
Wilson reportedly conducted a "give-and-take" session regarding the direction of the team, one day after Jauron's desperation manifested itself via the firing of offensive coordinator Turk Schonert.
The Bills would neither confirm nor deny that the meeting occurred, which of course means that it did.

If you are the Turk, who comes calling to tell you you've been let go ?
tick, tock, tick, tock.....
"The Bills would neither confirm nor deny that the meeting occurred, which of course means that it did."
Which also means you are only ASSuming something and we all know what that means........
Why the hell does Ralph Wilson live in Detroit?!
can they just cut the bull and fire jauron throw the season away go 3-13 get one of the top 3 picks draft bradford ,mccoy etc.
then ralph pay the money for a good head coach like cower billick or Shanahan i mean what are you doing with all the money Toronto gave you your 90 !!! do it and win!!
I'm thinking that maybe if Ralph Wilson spent more than the absolute bare minimum on his team, they might start winning more often.
Just a thought.
He actually lives in a suburb of Detroit called Grosse Pointe Shores. It is definitely the type of area you'd expect an NFL owner, Fortune 500 CEO, or Tony Montana to live.
the first thing ralph said to the group was
" t.o. just left"...
10. Straight. Years.
Before everyone gets all worked up can the season at least start and see how things go. Preseason does not mean that much.
Jauron is a good coach. Just because he does not act like an asshole like some others or make dumb comments or cheat...Oh that's right that is what you want a coach to do...Get over it,all that matters is if the team wins or looses. If a team wins they get away with anything. Look at the pats. They cheat like hell and everyone says it did not help. The cowboys team was linked to steroids back W/ Barry Bonds and that went away very fast.
Yeah honestly, what's the deal here? They seemed to be on an upswing and now they're looking defeated before the season's even begun. Call Martz.
The 2 worst head coaches in the league are:
2.Brad Childress
1. Dick Juron (sp)
The main reason this wan't end good and is even worse than the Cheifs or Bucs moves is that Wilson had concerns about Schonert at the end of last season. Jauron left him in place and will ultimately pay for that poor judgement. it's a shame because I think he's a solid coach, the Bills roster simply is average, starting with their over hyped QB. The league has figured him out, smarts can only take you so far. he's not good enough.
Was Mike Shanahan at that meeting?
Jauron and Russ Brandon were most likely put on notice that this could be the end, if they can't get this team winning right away.

Good question! I think Florio missed the real story here.
"The cowboys team was linked to steroids back W/ Barry Bonds and that went away very fast."
As well as their post season success.
I agree - call Martz.
Hi Bill Cowher- this is Ralph Wilson. I will pay you $8 million a year to be the coach and GM of my team.
"the first offseason of high hopes since the days of Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, and Andre Reed"
Uh they were pretty hopeful after they grabbed Stonelegs Bledsoe from the Pats and that team was in fact far better than the current heartless Bills team.
I love how Turk has been insulting Jauron since his firing. Pot calling kettle black?
If Shonert goes on to have success anywhere else in the NFL, Jauron shouldn't be allowed anywhere near another NFL team.
Jauron won't last through the by week in Buffalo. Is that even a bold prediction anymore?

I agree with RFF regarding Edwards, and for that matter, most of the roster being marginal at best. Edwards is not the guy who can get the Bills back to a conference title game or Super Bowl.
For the 10 years since this team has missed the playoffs, they must have drafted 30 defensive backs at the top end of the draft. Instead of getting impact players at defensive end, can't-miss left tackles (Jason Peters was an undrafted free agent, and a converted tight end because he ate too many oreos, and it turned out well for the Bills) or the coveted franchise quarterback, they draft at positions that the team already has strong depth, so when their draft picks become veterans seeking their second contract, Ralph can trade them or opt to let them walk.
I suppose Ralph is a little tight in the wallet, being more cautious since Mike Williams and J.P Losman, among others didn't work out so well.
Teams are built through the draft. The Bills team reflects their upper management's poor decision making, and even more obviously, Ralph Wilson's uncompromising way of doing business.
Not to get off topic but I find it a bit funny that people are bagging on the owner living in Grosse Point/Detroit. Do you honestly think Buffalo would be an upgrade? Now that is funny.

3 straight yrs of 7-9 football...thats a good coach? You can keep him if you want. The rest of the AFC East thanks you.
she-ho wont listen to martz. if these guys are done for, then they are done for.
yeah go get Stafford and bring your shoulder separation holder-together thingy while you're at it, dumb ass!
I thought we were dysfunctional in Cleveland, but that looks like heaven compared to this looney bin!
Barkeep, pass me my lamotrigene!
I mean really? how can you call yourself a Bills fan ... and no nothing about the owner of our team!? Ralph Wilson is not only from Detroit, but still loves Detroit and Michigan in general ... C'mon guys he was part owner of the Lions until 1963????
Whats the over/under on games Jauron coaches?
My bet is week 9 at bye at the latest.
At NE, Mia, Jets & Car. 0-4 on road. Maybe 1-3.
Bucs, Saints, Texans & Browns at home.
Possibly 2-6, 3-5 at the bye and he's gone.
Odds on him being first coach fired? 3-1
No clue here, too hard to guess.
