Ravens trim receiver Justin Harper

In somewhat of a surprise considering their lack of depth at wide receiver, the Ravens have parted with second-year player Justin Harper.

Harper, who played alongside Eddie Royal and Josh Morgan at Virginia Tech, was the talk of spring workouts and seemed locked into a roster spot when Marcus Smith tore his ACL.
But the athletic 2008 seventh-round pick’s role diminished late in the preseason, with the Baltimore Sun noting that Harper appears to “drop as many passes as he catches.”
Harper offers an excellent size-speed combination, so he may generate interest on waivers.

  1. Some team can have him…almost every ball thrown to him he dropped. So our loss is another teams headache..haha. Don’t pick this guy up.

  2. What the hell does size and speed amount to when you can’t catch the ball?
Harper sucks, if Ozzie was half as good at finding UDFA recievers as he is at finding linebackers, maybe we wouldn’t have to beg a 35-year old Derrick Mason out of retirement.
Now we’ve got interest in David Tyree? We’ve already got 2 guys who can’t stay healthy in Mark Clayton and Demetrius Williams…
Why the hell didn’t we look at Matt Jones?
OK he did some coke, sign him to a one year deal. Piss him weekly and axe him if he comes to practice with the jitters.
