In somewhat of a surprise considering their lack of depth at wide receiver, the Ravens have parted with second-year player Justin Harper.
Harper, who played alongside Eddie Royal and Josh Morgan at Virginia Tech, was the talk of spring workouts and seemed locked into a roster spot when Marcus Smith tore his ACL.
But the athletic 2008 seventh-round pick’s role diminished late in the preseason, with the Baltimore Sun noting that Harper appears to “drop as many passes as he catches.”
Harper offers an excellent size-speed combination, so he may generate interest on waivers.
