Texans make their cuts

The ’68 VW bus has returned from the short trip to Morgantown for West Virginia University’s ho-hum 13-point win over Liberty, and so it’s time to get to work on the big boy football news.

The Texans have announced their cuts.  Here are the victims.

Quarterback Alex Brink, linebacker Khary Campbell, linebacker Buster Davis, fullback Jonathan Evans, running back Arian Foster, tight end Clark Harris, safety Brandon Harrison, center Brett Helms, defensive end Tim Jamison, receiver Darnell Jenkins, guard Adrian Jones, defensive tackle Josh Leonard, defensive end Jesse Nading, cornerback Deltha O’Neal, cornerback Mark Parson, cornerback Matteral Richardson, receiver Mark Simmons, tackle Adam Stenavich, tackle Brandon Torrey, and tackle Cliff Washburn.

The Texans also waived/injured cornerback A.J. Davis and linebacker Toddrick Verdell.

The biggest name to go is O’Neal, a former first-round pick.  The move suggests a high degree of confidence that cornerback Dunta Robinson will be ending his holdout and signing his franchise tender soon.

Also, quarterback Rex Grossman has made the team.  So the city that spawned the run ‘n’ shoot offense might soon enjoy a revival of the chuck ‘n’ duck.
