Booty makes it through to Vikings practice squad

When the Vikings cut odd-man-out John David Booty on Saturday, the thinking apparently was that, if the 2008 fifth-rounder cleared waivers, he’d be signed to Minnesota’s practice squad.

And with the quarterback-needy Patriots, whose coach and Vikings coach Brad Childress got into a pissing match two years ago over waiver-wire etiquette, not claiming Booty, the second-year player was available to be signed to anyone’s practice squad.

He chose the Vikings.

The team announced its eight-member practice squad moments ago. Beyond Booty, they are safety Colt Anderson, tackle Chris Clark, defensive tackle Tremaine Johnson, tight end Garrett Mills, receiver Nick Moore, and tackle Drew Radovich.

Finally, the Vikings added running back Ian Johnson, the Boise State standout who shocked the Sooners with a Statue of Liberty two-point conversion to win the 2007 Fiesta Bowl.

Right before LeGarrette Blount punched him.
