Redskins lose trio of players to other teams

Chase Daniel didn’t make the Redskins roster, but he may have landed somewhere better for his career potential.

The Saints signed Daniel Sunday to their practice squad, according NFL’s Jason La Canfora.  With Joey Harrington off the roster, Daniel will learn at the feet of three outstanding quarterback teachers: Saints coach Sean Payton, Drew Brees, and Mark Brunell.

Reports surfaced yesterday Daniel wouldn’t be back with Washington, but La Canfora says that wasn’t their choice.  Redskins coach reportedly Jim Zorn told Daniel he wanted him.

La Canfora also points out that the Redskins were hoping to sign linebacker Cody Glenn to their practice squad, but the Colts claimed him on waivers.  The Eagles also claimed Redskins defensive tackle Antonio Dixon off waivers.

Maybe Washington’s depth wasn’t so bad after all.

While we’re at it, let’s roll out the rest of the Saints practice squad that will be joining Daniel: wide receiver Adrian Arrington, guard Tim Duckworth, cornerback Danny Gorrer, running back P.J. Hill, tackle Jermey Parnell, defensive DeMorio Pressley, and wide receiver Matt Simon.

To make room for Glenn, the Colts waived safety Matt Giordano.  And here goes Indy’s eight man practice squad: tight end Colin Cloherty, wide receivers Sam Giguere, John Matthews and Taj Smith, defensive lineman John Gill, running back Mike Hart and guard Jaimie Thomas.

Chase Daniels will never ever make it as an NFL QB. Slow of foot and a bit dim (of something other than foot), someone who caves to pressure. Puts up good numbers when his team outguns the opposition, but wrinkles into a raisin when the heat is on. Why would the Saints waste the time?

Jim Zorn is starting to make Tom Cable, an assclown in his own right, look pretty good right about now.

Slow of foot? I can’t attest to his performance in college (which I understand to be quite impressive), but he was rather quick here in Washington. I wish him the best in NO, maybe he’ll learn from Brees how to play as an undersized QB…

    Hey Drat,
The Saints “would waste the time” on Chase Daniel ’cause they have a head coach who is on the ball offensively and knows how to develop young quarterbacks into players. (Unlike the ‘Skins)

Daniel Sunday? Never heard of him.

Don’t hate on Chase Daniel. He’s not great, but he can be a quality back up. Honestly, I think he looked better than Colt Brennan’s overrated a$$ this preseason. I think he will do well in this league. Someone has a man crush on Colt Brennan. That’s why he’s on the roster (on IR at that).

@ JesseJames: you are correct, sir. As a Husker fan, I watched Chase Daniel tear up the Big 12, and I thought he did just fine with the Skins in preseason. The Skins are going to regret having let him go.

Hey genius, thats only seven players. Glenn is not the eighth, as he was signed to the active roster, in place of Giordano.
No one seems to know who the 8th player on the Colts practice squad is, at least no one I’ve seen.
