The minute Kevin O'Connell was acquired by the Jets, speculation immediately started regarding Kellen Clemens' future in Gotham.
Jets G.M. Mike Tannenbaum wanted to quiet the buzz, so he released a statement on Labor Day Eve. Here goes:
"We had a lot of interest in Kevin when he was coming out in the draft
last year,'' said Tannenbaum. ''He's smart and athletic and we feel
good about adding him to our team. We will move forward with four
quarterbacks on our roster."
The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Erik Ainge is gaining ground on Clemens for the backup job, but the Jets don't have the luxury to cut the only player on their roster with NFL starts at quarterback, especially when he's so affordable.
Clemens is a free agent in 2010, but his immediate future appears to be with the Jets.

Clearly one of the 4 has to go.Clemens is the insurance.Ainge is decent.I doubt he knows the system half as well as Clemens hes been in the system 4 years now.
Lets hope Sanchez doesnt flop so it doesnt matter whose behind him.I hope the 4th qb is to TRADE for a WR. Why let Woodhead go to open up a roster spot for a 4th qb. Woodhead will not clear wavers. He showed too much against the Eagles .
What do you dislike about comment ratings?
So Tannenbaum said the sky was blue, and you said, oh, the sky is blue.
Idiots.
they are just going to pick Kevin O'Connell"s brain about the patriots
They are just picking his brain about the Pats
Yep. First, keeping four quarterbacks would be idiotic for the Jets. It ties up player space the team could use. Unless your Oline is so bad that you expect to be going through quarterbacks, it is stupid. Oh, and there is the fact that O'Connel can't play. So the only reason left is that they want to try and get some play information about the Patriots. The Jets do this every year, so pretending it is something else is stupid, and assumes that the average NFL fan has the intelligence of a Palin supporter. They will keep him for as long as the interviews take, and then either release him or trade him.
