T.O. jokingly takes blame for Schonert firing

When the news came down Friday that the Bills had fired offensive coordinator Turk Schonert, wide receiver Terrell Owens tweeted that he was to blame.

“So let me apologize now 4 sumhow, sumway, i got the OC fired! I felt like i wsn’t gettin enuff balls n preseason! Lol! J/k but I apologize,” Owens wrote.

Today, Owens was asked if he had questions about how Schonert’s scheme was running.

“I’m sure everybody was aware of my little tweets so I mean I just tried to have fun with it,” Owens said in comments distributed by the team.  “So anything that ever goes wrong with every team that I’ve ever played for I’ve been to blame so I took it upon myself to take the blame.”

As a player who’s seen his share (and been the cause of) significant upheaval in his career, Owens didn’t make a big deal about the switch from Schonert to the new OC, Alex Van Pelt.

“I think we have enough capable guys and I think everybody will take accountability for what they do out there on the football field. . . .  We knew as of Friday what had happened so we’ve had a couple of days to kind of assess that situation and now we’re got to move forward.”

Meanwhile, Bills quarterback Trent Edwards deftly sidestepped questions about whether he personally felt a change was necessary.

“I have a lot of respect for [Schonert] and still do,” said Edwards.  “I don’t have anything against him.  Unfortunately the offense wasn’t going the direction that we needed to go and . . . we need to move forward [to next Monday's game at New England].”

Wide receiver Lee Evans was a little more effusive, saying, “I think it’s going to be good.  I was excited to come in here today and see what changes were going to be made and how things were going to be different.”

And if it all goes South under Van Pelt?

Just blame T.O.

Yes, they are excited that the offense is going to be even more simple than it was in pre-season. Guess that makes some sense if your players have trouble picking up more than a simple offense. I just don’t see how staying simple is going to help you in the long run. Yes, it might make you a better team in the short run, as the offense will be able to pick things up easier. However in the NFL I don’t see how keeping things simple is going to get you to the playoffs, or beat some of the better teams in the league.

The truth is Dick Jauron specializes in putting together crappy teams. Dude has never won a damn thing, why’s he still a head coach in the NFL?

It’s too bad the NFL keeps these wanna be football players. There are many who play for the LOVE of the game, they are the real ‘Football Players’, UNLIKE the egotistical, cry baby, self centered T. ‘BAG’ O. He is by far the worst of a growing list. At least pac man is gone(for now), now if they would only dump B.Marshall, R. Moss, F. Smoot, Chad Johnson, Deangelo Hall…….. and many more. Let me say it again… dump the T-BAG. Get back to real football.

anyone notice the trend that in terms of personality TO has more in common with a high school cheerleader than an NFL player?
The excessive !!! in every tweet, the passive-aggressive & moody behavior, and let’s not forget the pom-poms.
I’m just hoping we dont find out he was breast-fed until he was 4 like Manny ramirez, but it wouldnt shock me.
