Another day, another AFC West domestic violence arrest

On Sunday, Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman was arrested for battery and false imprisonment.

Broncos tight end Richard Quinn didn’t learn from Merriman’s example.

Quinn, a second-round pick in the 2009 draft, currently is behind bars as a result of a Monday domestic violence incident.  Per Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post, Quinn is being held without bail pending a Tuesday morning court appearance.

Quinn’s girlfriend called 911 from a neighbor’s house, and she told authorities that Quinn “grabbed and shook her to the ground,” and that he took her cell phone to prevent her from calling police.  He faces a concisely-worded charge of “harassment — obstruction of phone services/domestic violence.”

Quinn reportedly admitted to taking the phone, but he claims that he did so only because she “started hitting him in the face.”  And that excuse makes sense only if she started hitting him in the face . . . with her phone.

    But the Police report states.
“The report says that Quinn had no sign of injuries to his face.”

I swear before I opened this page that it was going to be about Brandon Marshall and a Burger King sack.

I think Fabian Washington was the last Raider to choke out a girlfriend/wife/meat wallet, but I get the funny feeling that this latest rash of domestic violence incidents will somehow end up in Oakland’s lap.

Tequilla had no evidence of a choking either.. but yet Merriman got arrested. This is getting out of control..all these women “claiming” something happened but have no proof of any of it.. smh whatever happened to innocent til proven guilty?? Now its guilty til proven innocent. Sickening!

He was drafted to be a blocking tight end, and he couldn’t even block his own face?

  13. SlaveToBankers says: Sep 7, 2009 9:26 PM

Hmmm, I don’t know why, but I just assumed that this story would be about Tom Cable crippling another assistant in order to send a clear message to Richard Seymour.

What is it with the AFC worst cant win a big game so you have to beat up on women
I still cant belive that Tia was with ferryman
She got beat because Shawne could not get it up or its so small due to all the roids that he could not find it

  22. southernboi727 says: Sep 7, 2009 9:34 PM

This no big deal. This sort of thing happens all the time in America.

  23. TSE says: Sep 7, 2009 9:35 PM

I like the last line. Florio you missed the opportunity for a Zork reference with some kind of a play on words or syntax error or something. That would have fit nicely here. :)
What do you want to hit the face with? ..I don’t know what the word “phone” is… etc. etc.

  24. todd bennett says: Sep 7, 2009 9:37 PM

I did’nt know “obstruction of phone services” was a crime hell I got AT&T on that one and false advertisment with more bars in more places.

This guy was a projected 4-5th rounder. Mcdaniels drafts him second round. Another good decision mcdaniels.

  29. Twiz says: Sep 7, 2009 11:31 PM

I dunno bout this second woman, but everyone knows that Tila is nothing but a skank that used up her 15 minutes of fame an hour ago!
Funny how everyone jumps after only hearing only part of the story, funnier still how Florio automatically ASSumes everyone is guilty. Shows why he tries to run a sports site, he isn’t worth crap as an atty!

AFC West – each team has to go one up on another team.
Look for the Chiefs to have someone arrested soon.
Larry Johnson was last Chief in trouble and that was 3/24/09.

  31. steeler-hater says: Sep 8, 2009 11:29 AM

Maybe they should switch the Bengals into the AFC West. Their players will fir right in with what some of these AFC West players are doing…

  32. Bob Nelson says: Sep 8, 2009 12:55 PM

So are Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton coming to his defense against the abuses of police everywhere?
Will the President say the police acted stupidly?
    Racial profiling?
