I can see it now....
Lamont Jordan, Randy Moss, Derrick Burgess, Andrew Walters (in camp) around Richard Seymour all in a circle talking about how happy they are to be out of Oakland.
Randy - "Dawg, I just stopped playing. That place is so f'd up"
Jordan - "I hear you, Randy. I was so jealous when you left....your stats went up immediately, back on the ProBowl roster."
Derrick - "I went to a Pro Bowl there, and I still had to get out. They will never ever win again with count Davis, there"
All including Seymour - "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA"
...and then the news.....

Un-freaking-real ! It seriously is. The Richard Seymour trade was finalized and announced on Sunday. Seymour is not in Alameda on Monday, less than 24 hours later and immediately the anti-Raider sports press (Peter King, PFT) start spouting that Seymour is pissed about the trade and is refusing to go to Oakland. If Seymour had been traded to any other team but the Raiders, the fact that he hadn't arrived within 24 hours of the trade being announced wouldn't be a story. At all. But it s the Raiders so of course NOBODY wants to go there so Seymour will refuse to accept the trade accoriding to SI.com. Never confirmed with the Raiders or the Patriots. Spokesman for NE says they are not aware of any problems with Seymour and the trade. Raiders HC Cable says he spoke to Seymour and he wants to be a Raider. For gods sake its barely been 24 hours. I'm not surprised the isn't in Oakland yet. He will be soon.

"The Pats had the 8th best defense last year with gobs of missed games by 7 starters. They are loaded this year on D. Wake up fool."
You do realize that their schedule last year was mostly made up of:
the AFC West
the NFC West
the rest of the AFC East twice.
So that last year they played the #29, #28, #27, #25 (twice), #24, #23, #16 (twice) offenses while Denver and Arizona both laid an uncharacteristic egg on offense in Foxboro, and giving up 38, 30, 28, 18, and 33 to the rest of the teams they played?
We're not exactly talking about one of the all-time defenses last year for the Pats, and losing Seymour certainly won't help for this year when they play some better teams in their non-divisional games.

You know, with the cowboy scoreboard being hit a few times with punts, I SUPPOSE it COULD, THEORETICALLY, come crashing down on the field.
I mean, I think it's highly unlikely for this to happen, but, my FRIEND says he thinks it's a real possibility.
So, let's have 2-3 articles on the procedure which would occur should this happen. What, pray tell, would the NFL do in this scenario? What forms would be processed in case the cowboy scoreboard comes crashing down.
And, would it be any different if this happened during a game? What forms are needed for that?

So basically if he sits out he doesn't get paid and we fastforward a year to the exact same situation. Hmm. One wonders if he'd have the same concerns joining the team if Ryan was the DCooord. I doubt it. Anyway, supposition aside it's in his best interests to play for the Raiders for a year and then to hit the free market and get fair value. Football's a business at the end of the day, albeit one where the player has essentially no leverage except during contract signage.
I get that Seymour is upset. Who wouldn't be? But it's a business and Belichick is simply making a business decision. He realized that his division is going to be weak this year, so it's an ideal time to bring in the new guard and use those first few games as a way of bringing them up to speed much like Matt Cassel was handled last year. Better to do it with a brand new core unit at the same time so as to establish that cohesiveness. Better to remove the crutch that Seymour would represent. Better to do it when one team in your div is struggling (the Bills) and another has a new coach and a rookie QB (the Jets). Given the turnover that's happened lately with the Pats it was inevitable that at some time soon something like this was going to happen. It just turned out that this was the time. It's nothing personal I'm sure.
For the other teams, now is the time to hurt the Pats. They're weak now and you could be seeing a sea change if their competitors recognize it and dismantle the team of the decade.

well, he ain't retiring, and he ain't getting put in the IR since there's a 1st round pick involved.
that leaves two options
1. he doesn't show up, trade gets called off, seymour goes to the pats
2. this is all pointless speculation and he shows up in oakland and plays the season out.
my money is on the latter.

Yeah, Seymour could not report. He could also shoot himself in the head. Both make about the same sense.
Sit out a year at age 30 to be in exactly the same position he is now and lose $4 mil? His earning potential would plummet. Who wants to pay big money to a 31 year old that hasn't played in a year and has completely confirmed if there were any doubts that he is a pain in the ass? No way that greedy SOB will do that.
gameday, you are a moron.
The Pats had the 8th best defense last year with gobs of missed games by 7 starters. They are loaded this year on D. Wake up fool.

Guessing it also hinges on Raiders getting an extension out of RS somehow. Not sure how that works in with the trade deal though.
Really shouldn't be too tough to play for 1 year, collect 3.7 mil and become a free agent.

I havn't heard anything about Seymour not showing up in Oakland, except from that FATASS at SI.com. Lets face it, his opinion doesn't count for much anyway.
I understand Seymour not wanting to leave his comfort zone, but we all know uncle Al is going to pay him way more than he ever could have hoped for in NE.
He will be at practice very soon if he picks up the phone and takes the payday, otherwise deal is off.
The Raider line just got a whole lot better, and much more versatile. Both Kelly and Seymour can play DE or DT.

I havn’t heard anything about Seymour not showing up in Oakland, except from that FATASS at SI.com. Lets face it, his opinion doesn’t count for much anyway.
I understand Seymour not wanting to leave his comfort zone, but we all know uncle Al is going to pay him way more than he ever could have hoped for in NE.
He will be at practice very soon if he picks up the phone and takes the payday, otherwise deal is off.
I usually take the position of supporting the team in contract deals, and when players play games to get contracts, they deserve things like this to happen to them. If you only care about the money, then don't be shocked when you get created like an object, you made the choice to get traded to Oakland Mr. Seymour, it wasn't anything the Pats did to you, you did it to yourself. I hope you enjoy your ever so slightly higher amount of money that you gained or will gain from your tactics with your new team. You shouldn't complain since you took what was YOUR preferred option, so you should be happy right now."
It's really not much different than Damian Woody, Ty Law, Lawyer Milloy, Deion Branch, and David Givens.
Chased the money, and never attained the same level of team or individual success again.

My first reaction was GREAT!!!! We get a good player to upgrade our defense. Plus, he's a high character guy that's also a proven winner. Hopefully, he can show some of the under performers what it takes to win.
But, then I realized that he only has one year left on his contract, and that we gave up a 1st round pick to get him. That seems like an awfully high price to pay for a guy with a lot of wear on his tires.
As long as we can resign him and have him for MORE than one year, it'll be a great move because Al Davis always blows the 1st round pick anyway. And the money those 1st rounders get really hurts the salary cap if they turn out to be busts.

I mean, who WOULDN'T be furious about being traded to the Raiturds? They are terribly mis-managed, sign total losers and have a coach that Blounts his own players.
In other words: they make my Donks look like a model organization.
The shock of going from first to worst must sting badly.

Lets get the season going!!!!!! I cant wait to poke sticks at the retarded caged monkeys(Patriots fans) after each loss this season!!!!!!!
No chance of another Super Bowl this year, so at least you wont have ANOTHER tainted trophy.
