Once we announced one team’s practice squad, we had to announce the rest of the teams or risk more cries of bias from the PFT faithful. (Or at least the small minority of the readership that leaves comments. Who we all love equally.)
Plus, if you are the type to ignore your family on Labor Day for a little light NFL reading, you are may be the type that is interested in the 49ers practice squad.
So here it is: tackle Alex Boone, wide receiver Dobson Collins, tight end Joe Jon Finley, fullback Brit Miller, defensive tackle Khalif Mitchell, running back Kory Sheets, and wide receiver Dominique Zeigler.
The most interesting names here include Sheets, who is essentially the team’s third true tailback and will probably get in the mix during the season. Zeigler is a team favorite, but is caught at a crowded position. And Finley is a favorite because there just aren’t enough Joe Jons in the league.
San Francisco still has one spot left on the practice squad. Notable for his absence on the list is sixth-round pick, tight end Bear Pascoe.
The team still has one spot left on the practice squad, which could be filled by whoever is cut in to make room for guard/tackle Tony Pashos.
