Dexter Jackson getting a look in Charlotte

Last week, the Bucs abandoned the Dexter Jackson experiment. Tampa was hoping to make the speedy but undersized second-round pick into a return man exclusively, and the powers-that-be decided after only one season to pull the plug.

Thanks to the presence of guaranteed base salaries in Jackson’s contract, no one touched his contract on waivers.

So now he’s free and clear, and it’s not surprising that a team that once converted a speedy but undersized third-round pick from a return man into an elite receiver is interested.

According to Adam Caplan of Scout.com, Jackson visited the Panthers on Tuesday.

It remains to be seen whether he gets a shot there. The Panthers brought in former Carolina return specialist Mark Jones for a visit on Monday, but he failed his physical.

Mike Goodson currently is listed as the team’s only kickoff returner, and Kenneth Moore is the top punt returner.
