As it turns out, Vikings quarterback Brett Favre might not be the only high-profile player with swine flu and/or polio. [Editor's note: We are not reporting or suggesting that Favre has swine flu and/or polio. It's a running reference to Favre's apparent effort to incorporate in advance of his 19th NFL season as many excuses as possible, in the event he plays at the start of 2009 like he did at the end of 2008.]
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan missed practice Monday with an unspecified illness, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Specifically, Ryan was sent home after showing up at the team facility.
“He wasn’t feeling well today,” coach Mike Smith said of Ryan.
It’s highly unlikely that Ryan will miss more practice time and/or the Week One game against the Dolphins. But until Ryan is back, we can’t rule out swine flu.
Or polio.
OMG SWINE FLU!?!#^%?
OH NO! Brett Favre has swine flu and/or polio?!?!?!?!
Probably had some bad meat in the can.
/Geaux Saints
I bet it has something to do with Merriman, Tequila the hood-rat, a weird burning sensation when he takes a piss and a course of antibiotics.
Just saying
Sounds like Matty Ice had too much Natty Ice.
General rule of thumb, anytime you have to write an extra paragraph explaining your “joke”, it wasn’t worth it. Don’t try so hard Florio!
How on Earth did I miss Favre getting the swine flu. Why didn’t you report this earlier, now I have to go update my H1N1 Fantasy League. My star has more power than your star now…
Really? Still going with the swine flu polio gag? Man, when you come up with a joke you think is uber clever – this one is not by a long shot, by the way – you beat it to death. Yawn.
Matt Ryan was feeling euphoric over the beatdown he’ll be putting to the Dolphins defense on Sunday, at 1 P.M. EST Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
SaintsBucsFalconsSUK is a bastid. Just saying.
I’ll bet that even if Favre had polio, he’d convince himself he could still play while rolling around in a wheelchair…
Or Erectile Dysfunction.
Ryan should be glad he is not in Cleveland. They would be testing him for Staph right now. Maybe Kellen Winslow should call him just incase.
It quite obvious the reason why Matt Ryan became ill. It’s just a poor excuse to keep him from facing the mighty Dolphins come opening Sunday. Grow up Ryan and earn your hire. You and a lot of the media gommers have displayed nothing but disrespect towards the Dolphins and as a point of punishment, the Dolphins will beat you and your team by 27 points in contrast to just 14. Let’s kick some booty Dolphins……
