Timmons expected to miss opener

The Pittsburgh Steelers will start their title defense without one of their starting defenders.

Inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons, struggling with a high ankle sprain, didn’t practice at all for the Steelers over the last three days and is not expected to play.

Timmons split time in the middle with Larry Foote last year, but Foote is now in Detroit. Keyaron Fox will start for the first time since 2006, when he was with the Chiefs.

Usually a special teamer, Fox’s run-stopping abilities will be tested against Chris Johnson, LenDale White, and the Titans. Tuesday’s injury report indicates that the rest of Pittsburgh’s squad is healthy and raring to go for Thursday night.

As are we.
