Canty finally off Giants injury report

After losing defensive tackle Jay Alford for the season, the Giants won’t have the entire defensive line they dreamed up during their aggressive offseason.

But they should have free agent addition Chris Canty available for Week One against the Redskins.  For the first time in a month, Canty is not on the team’s pre-practice injury report.  Canty is moving to defensive tackle in New York’s 4-3 scheme.

Canty could be added to the injury report later, but he’s practicing fully again for the first time and should be ready for the game against Washington.

“If it makes you feel better, I’ll put him on there,” Coughlin told reporters.

Fellow free agent addition Rocky Bernard is also recovered from a preseason injury, so Washington’s aging offensive line will have their hands full on Sunday.  Coughlin will try not to overwork Canty as he gets up to speed.

“We’ve got to watch this, obviously,” Coughlin said. “Anybody who’s
done as little as he’s done in the preseason, you have to be careful.”

His 6″7 outstretched arms up the middle batting down passes, with osi and tuck collapsing from the ends.
    I dig it.

Definitely the most overrated FA acquisition this offseason.

I find that hilarious. Media is always pushing.

I’ll dig watching Brian Westbrook run right through his arms for a first down more. ;-)

Canty’s biggest problem is that he won’t be playing between Demarcus Ware and Jay Ratliff anymore.

Way overpaid. He will be a force but not what they think he’ll be. Anybody will look great vs The RedButts o-line. Jason Campbell will be running for his life.

LOL……….Yeah the results were astounding…….How else could he average 2.5 sacks 37 tackles a year…….They really put him on the map…….

He wasn’t that great in Dallas and he won’t be that great in New York.

I’m sorry, are you actually suggesting that Ratliff, is better than Tuck and Osi?
I defend the team i like too, but let’s not get carried away over here.

People are forgetting Canty played an end in a 3-4, it would be impossible for him to have a ton of sacks. He will be playing various positions in NY. I dont care if he doesnt have double digit sacks, as long as he bats passes down over the middle and uses his height.

Vox’s biggest problem is that he refuses to admit that his hero Emmitt Smith thinks the Cowboys are going to get 7 wins this season.

You do reaize he has defended a whopping total of 8 passes……..In his 4 year career right?……Thats 2 a year……that with 10 sacks, and 37 tackles a year….Hell he played end in college in a 3-4……was the reason he was drafted…..Why sign an out of position player for 40 some odd million?……..

Has Vox commented on emmitt’s prediction ?…….Somehow i doubt it……The truth can be a scary thing, this time last year, i think Vox decided Emmitt was the greatest thing……commentator wise since sliced bread, he was yanno…..the one who and i quote……”chinese peasants knew of”..and it was all Florio’s fault….What do the chinese peasants think of emmitt’s prediction this year Vox?…….Speak bitch, it’s not december…When you usually disappear..

He had a very good season last year, are you joking? You realize how little a 3-4 DE shows up in the stat sheets right? Why dont you go read Demarcus Wares comments on how he thought Canty played last year.
    Football is not fantasy football.

Several reasons 1) the strength of the Giants D is their D line. At the end of last season, it was painfully obvious NY did not have enough depth to deal with injuries 2) NY is an attack first team. Really big guy in the middle with his arms up means QBs go left or right in order to see. That’s exactly what NY wants because that is where our speed guys rush from. Whether Canty gets a single sack all season is irrelevant if he forces a QB towards Tuck, Osi, or anyone else NY brings from the sides. He did what they needed him to do. 3) Canty’s best games came against NY. Addition by subtraction. For all the s**t you guys are talking, I think Dallas is still a very dangerous team. They go to the short game with their RBs and TEs, they can compete with anyone. If the mummy known as Jones forces them to play long, they will be in trouble. On the chance that Jerrah has some common sense, I prefer that their D be missing the big guy. 4) Doesn’t anyone in Philly know that a contract is only valid for guaranteed money? Canty is a bust? He never sees 40 mill. He plays the role NY needs, he’s worth it. Uncapped year favors the team that plays in the largest media market in the country. No cap means teams are not going to be willing to share. That means the richest ad revenues for a regular season game goes to the Giants. Wellington Mara was a big believer in sharing revenues despite the fact that it was to his disadvantage. He’s gone, his son is not the force in the NFL he was, and owners like Jones and Snyder want the ability to maximize their profits. In the “new” NFL, if it goes that far, NY will be swimming in cash. You Philly boys better hope the cap can be saved. Between NY, Dallas, and Washington, you guys won’t be able to afford to sign a FA kicker if the cap disappears.

He didn’t do crap in Big D but get pushed around and now he’s a stud DT..puhlease he’ll be a cap killer in a few yrs and BTW doesn’t he make more than Osi and Tuck….lol!

Put him on the map well enough to get the Giants to give him a big payday.

Wow EskinSux, you sure are froggy today. Emmitt’s allowed his opinions. Strange how you call him a dumbass but the minute he says something you like you hold him up like he’s some kind of Rhodes Scholar.
One thing’s for sure, he’s smarter than you and he was a better football player than the Eagirls have ever had.
