Quinn report from T.O. confirmed

As it turns out, T.O. was right.

The mercurial Bills wideout, who spent part of the day trashing his team’s no-huddle offense, disclosed on his Twitter page the fact that Brady Quinn will be the starting quarterback of the Browns, at least for Week One.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer confirms that, indeed, the job is Quinn’s.

Quinn took the reps with the first-team during practice on Wednesday and the quarterbacks learned of the decision on Tuesday night.  So, despite coach Eric Mangini’s stated desire to keep the decision a secret in the hopes of confounding the Vikings, someone has blabbed.

That’s what he gets for dragging the rookies to Connecticut by bus this summer on a “voluntary” basis to work a youth football camp.

And how the hell would T.O. know who the starting QB in Cleveland is?

  2. VikingsFan23 says: Sep 9, 2009 3:37 PM

    Like it really mattered anyway.
    Both of them suck.

  3. jrd8523 says: Sep 9, 2009 3:37 PM

“Trashing” his teams no huddle offense? By responding to a question about if he likes it with “no, not really. But I have to deal with it”. Jesus. Wonder what Florio would have wrote if T.O. actually trashed it.

Looks like T.O. has a future at ESPN. Maybe he can fill in as the dumb, ex-receiver on NFL Live for Keyshawn.

Most depressing thing I’ve read in weeks. Oh well, even a blind pig will occasionally find an acorn.

Derek Anderson is also a rat! Check out http://www.dorkjocks.com for that article.

As time goes by, the name “Man-genious” just becomes more and more laughable, doesn’t it? What a silly gimmick this was, and he couldn’t even pull it off.
In fact, so far all of these Belichick disciples are very unimpressive: Crennel, Weis, Mangini. We’ll see about McDaniels but he’s off to an awful start in Denver.

    @VikingsFan23
I think it’s the “… But I’ll have to deal with it” We all know how well Owens deals with anything. He’ll be throwing his coaches and teammates under the bus by week 4. This is just the precursor.
    Vikes suck…. couldn’t help myself ;)

….and that had what to do with this whole story? Jeez, for ONE time, it’d be nice to get a bit of real journalism on here……

  11. jetsfan59 says: Sep 9, 2009 3:48 PM

I’m sure the Vikings were scared about which quarterback they would have to prepare for. After all, they’re both destined for the Hall of Fame

  12. Brian says: Sep 9, 2009 3:49 PM

I really don’t understand why you hate Mangini so much, Florio…did his dog bite your kid or something?

  13. LCCJ says: Sep 9, 2009 3:50 PM

Who cares, If I was a bills fan I would be more concerned about TO in other teams business b/c he has a knack for not knowing the playbook and run the wrong routes and blame the QB afterwards.

  14. joeynova22 says: Sep 9, 2009 3:50 PM

U luv U some T.O. Florio. The man was said he wasnt fond of the no-hudlle but would learn to deal with it. He didnt “trash” anything……………..If it is going to be news let it be newsworthy please, for the readers sake.

TO is a fortune teller. He read Mangina’s palms.

  16. tre_fizzle says: Sep 9, 2009 3:51 PM

T.O. burned the playbook and has snipers stalking the coaching staff. Tomorrow he’s taking the team HQ hostage and next week he plans to overthrow British Parliament.

    Preparing for Quinn or Andersen?
Kinda like drawing up a gameplan to defeat Mini Me or Tattoo – not that big of a deal.

Question: are the Vikings fans who are saying how bad Brady Quinn sucks the same ones who were praying that their team would draft him in 2007?
    Just curious.

Florio = The Perez Hilton of the football world.
p.s. The shameless plugs for CFT are getting old already.

  22. jersey73 says: Sep 9, 2009 4:02 PM

He had a 50/50 chance of being right. I could’ve flipped a coin and been right too.

Harsh article- more of the famous PFT bias showing its underwear. The Cleveland Plain Dealer article sites a league source. You know those guys are never wrong- right Mr. Florio?

  25. VikingsFan23 says: Sep 9, 2009 4:10 PM

Dan Watson – Speaking for myself (as a Vikings fan saying how bad Quinn sucks) I emphatically did NOT want him to be drafted by the Vikings (although I WAS hoping he would get out of the greenroom).

  26. C.Bass says: Sep 9, 2009 4:12 PM

WOW!!! I bet the Viking D is breathing a HUGE sign of relief!!
Now they know to prepared for a potentially slightly above-average QB and not and average QB.

How do we know the media is not being taken advantage of here? We know how much they love to have the “scoop” on stories like this. This makes them such easy targets for a well-planned scheme.
For Example: If Mangini was a smart man, he should have told all his players to tell their “friends” (e.g. T.O. and the media) that Quinn is the starter. These players then “leak” to the media that Quinn is the starter. The media then prematurely reports that Quinn is the starter so they can brag that they were first. Mangini then trots Anderson out on the first drive of Sunday’s game, and the media sits idly by in disbelief with egg on their faces. The end.
Maybe he has already put this plan into place? Guess we’ll find out on Sunday…

I think I speak for most Viking’s fans when I say that we were quite content to pick Adrian Peterson in 2007.

If the Vikings lay an egg in Cleveland and “Lord Favre” plays bad, that team could implode before it gets back to the love boat.

  31. Crazydiamond says: Sep 9, 2009 5:27 PM

What’s up with all the “implosion” talk about the Vikes? They have been a steadily improving team since Childress arrived. They will be good whether Favre stays healthy or not.

  32. LJ says: Sep 9, 2009 5:41 PM

Brett Farve, meet Shaun Rogers. Healthy 40 yr old ribs can’t hold up to that, much less cracked 40 yr old ribs. Will the starter for the rest of the season be Jackson or Rosenfels? Peterson, Taylor & the Williams Wall will still carry them this weekend.

  33. tufar says: Sep 9, 2009 5:44 PM

NOHIO….”Lord Favre” “Love Boat”..wow, how original. Is that really the best you can do? Read more of the trash that comes at the Vikes from the Packer fans, at least some of them try some new stuff!

You can’t fool Terrell, just ask Garcia.

  35. GoBrowns19 says: Sep 9, 2009 7:07 PM

Why does everybody keep saying they both suck. Anderson is a better backup than most of your douchebag teams have. And nobody, not even you geniuses, know what Quinn can do. He played in two games last year.
This is Quinn’s chance to show. If he can’t, well then it’s Colt McCoy next year. I’m sure if we need to draft a quarterback next year, we’ll have the draft pick to do it because that means we haven’t done sh*t.

  36. CanadianVikingFan says: Sep 9, 2009 7:52 PM

All the Browns fans excuses don’t make up the fact that they still suck….

  37. watchthisjack says: Sep 9, 2009 7:55 PM

I thought that T.O. had a problem with, ehem, “happy” quarterbacks.

  38. BorisBulldog says: Sep 10, 2009 12:45 AM

    Just curious Vikes fans?
Will the Browns still suck when they paste a fat “L” on your azzes this Sunday?

  39. purpleguy says: Sep 10, 2009 10:28 AM

Brett Favre meet Shaun Rogers? Are you frigging kidding? The overwieght injured lazy ass that couldn’t even cut it in Detroit? Yeah, I’m sure Lord Favre is quivering in his cleats. Whether the Browns face the Vikings, the Lions or Boise State, that team is still a joke, and will be all year.

  40. ONSLAUGHT says: Sep 10, 2009 10:34 AM

Alright, The Vikes tried to trade for Quinn last year but the Browns didnt want to give him up for a 2nd round pick…. idiots. Before the Vikes tried to get Quinn they tried to get Anderson for a 3rd round pick and the Browns said no…. idiots
I am thinking after Sunday, Quinn is going to wish he was on the same team as Jared Allen, The Williams Wall, and E.J. Henderson because he will be doing an awful lot of running away from those guys!
    Vikes 27
    Browns 13
