We were told earlier today that four teams are now interested in veteran tackle Jon Runyan, and that he’s visiting one of them today.
As it turns out, that team is the team for which he has been a fixture on the right edge of the line.
Jeff McLane and Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer report that Runyan worked out today for Eagles coach Andy Reid, offensive line coach Juan Castillo, and G.M. Tom Heckert.
Brad Biggs of NFP recently reported that Runyan worked out for the Chiefs.
Our guess is that a mini-auction will emerge for Runyan’s services after Week One, when Runyan’s full salary no longer will essentially be guaranteed.
We previously reported that Runyan has turned down a recent offer from a team for which he didn’t want to play.

Remind me why he left The Beag’s in the first place.
BRING IT IN BIG JON!
YES! This is awesome news. My back just grew some extra hair to celebrate!
$20 says the team he didn’t want to play for was SF.
That’s good news. He’s good insurance for the o-line.
JON We welcome you with open arms !!
ya thats cause the raiders SUCK ASS!!!
Remind me why he left The Beag’s in the first place.
Free Agent with lagging injuries that he corrected and rehabed over the off-season. This guy is a TANK and a well seasoned vet. He could easily start for most if not all teams or provide outstanding depth.
Why the Skins have not signed him yet I don’t know.
@henchman
I’ll take your bet and say it was the bills.
The locker still has your name on it, Jon.
Maybe our line won’t be a bunch of pussies with him back on the right side. He’s given us our swagger for the last decade. He’s gritty as hell, mean dude, gives them attitude. Perfect guy to play in Philly.
Hell, maybe Childress will sign this Eagle castoff also…
Who cares about Runyan, maybe we can get 10 or 12 more stories about the locker room “schism” in Minnesota or something………….
Sign with the Lions… Runyun, Backus, Jansen… all back together again
Big Jon! Come on back to the Birds.
The Raiders were the team he did not want to play for. If this gets into a bidding war, the Eagles lose. If he wants to play close to home, he signs with the Birds for less money. Can he play MLB?
Jon, Please Please come back. We need you!
yes mav the lions ought to push hard to get him.
I bet the Eagles will sign him if Shawn Andrews doesn’t play well week 1. Or if they think they can use him on the left side for Herreman’s.
Shawn Andrews sat out practice again today. No word on whether he claims it was his mystery back ailment, or his sad feelings that kept him idle.
Even healthy and sane, he’s a guard, not a tackle.
Runyan’s phone will be ringing less than five minutes after the Eagles get a whiff of Julius Peppers facing the Shawn Andrews or Winston Justice.
Florio… you consistently show a lack of understanding concerning most of the teams and players that you “report” on.
Runyan would likely forgo a considerable amount of money to return to the Eagles. Don’t count on that auction.
