As expected, Sanders will miss Week One for the Colts

The Colts recently had to decide whether to leave safety Bob Sanders on the Physically Unable to Perform list, or whether to carry him on the 53-man roster even though he isn’t ready to play.

They opted for the latter, since the former would have required him to miss a minimum of six weeks.  (For the Colts, that would have been five games.)

He’ll miss at least one game.  The team announced today that Sanders is out for Sunday’s opener against the Jaguars.

Also out are tight end Tom Santi (ankle) and defensive back Jamie Silve (abdomen).  Defensive tackle Fili Moala (knee) is questionable.

For the Jags, tight end Zach Miller (knee) is out, defensive tackle Derek Landri (knee) is probable, and tackle Tra Thomas (back) is probable.

Under NFL rules, the designation of “probable” means that there is a virtual certainty the player will be available for normal duty.

I’m sick of hearing about this guy being one of the best, and most feared defensive players in the NFL. Until he gets on the field for more than a few games at a time, I don’t consider him an elite player. I don’t care how good he is in 4 games every season. He isn’t dependable so he’s ultimately a non factor in the team’s overall success.

Overrated is not the word. At least most overrated players suit more than 25% of the season. How about overhyped, overpaid, overly-fragile and overrated.

    When isn’t this guy injured.
I love hearing from the gurus that the Lions new safety, Louis Delmas, is the next coming of Bob Sanders. As a Bears fan, I hope he is…

The Colts have a better record when Sanders doesn’t play.

Sanders has been quite underwhelming since signing his deal. However, the upside is that the colts have been able to plug in Bullit with little to no drop off. Bullit is a GREAT player in his own right. More of a coverage guy than Bob but decent in run support. If i were a jags fan I’d be concerned about Freeney and Mathis against those rookie tackles. Cant wait till sunday.

Sure found a way to play in more than 4 games the last year of his contract…so he could sign for BIG $$$…I don’t know about Physically Unable to Perform… I would think that it is more like Physically to LAZY to Perform
Put him on the list until he leaves!
