Despite some positive tweets earlier in the week, Saints running back Pierre Thomas will not play this Sunday against the Lions.
Thomas was listed as out on the Saints’ injury report released Friday because of a knee injury. “PT Cruiser” gashed his knee this week while trying to retrieve his dog from a neighbor’s yard, but that’s not why he’s missing the game. Thomas is still recovering from an MCL sprain suffered in the preseason.
Teammate Jeremy Shockey is listed as probable with an ankle injury, but he’s fully expected to play.
Reggie Bush and Mike Bell should split up the workload at running back for the Saints, who will be without left tackle Jamaal Brown for at least five weeks.
Also of note in New Orleans: first-round pick Malcolm Jenkins surprisingly won’t be involved in the team’s starting nickel package at cornerback. He’s now the team’s fourth corner, behind veteran Randall Gay.
Yeah! So do I start Reggie Bush or Kevin Smith?
As a diehard Saints fan, I never understood all the hype Pierre Thomas has generated. Yeah he’s a better pure RB than Reggie Bush, but that doesn’t in itself qualify him as a legit #1 back.
Mike Bell is a lot closer to being a Clinton Portis type feature back than Pierre Thomas ever will be.
@GatorGuar: I’d definitely start Kevin Smith. Reggie probably won’t get as many carries as Mike Bell this week, although he’ll definitely get some swing passes, etc.
Reggie would be like a “B-” option and Smith would be a “B+” option IMHO.
mike bell says ” remember me?”.
the saints will b ok.
@SaintMichael – Thanks, that was my gut
I drafted this bum in 5th round and hes already missing a game….Bah
Gregggg, did you know that Florio hates Reggie Bush?
I hate to admit it, but I own a convertible pt cruiser turbo with a ridiculous sound system.
and as much fun as it is to drive, it’s not something I go around bragging about.
I definately wouldn’t name myself something that is primarily owned by 55 year old housewives…
just sayin’
