The Seymour has landed

Richard Seymour’s career as a Raiders has officially started.

The three-time Super Bowl champion arrived late Saturday afternoon at Oakland’s team facility in Alameda.  A press conference is expected to follow.

Seymour’s role may be limited in the season opener, but his arrival caps an excellent day in Raider Nation, Javon Walker’s odd situation put aside.

The cherry on top of the Seymour Sundae came courtesy of college football.

As Jerry McDonald points out, Mr. Al Davis must have enjoyed UCLA’s 19-15 victory over Tennessee’s Lane Kiffin.

    Ya baby!
Mr Davis will pay him very well and he’ll be a happy camper.
    Raider Nation forever.

  2. Bigbluefan says: Sep 12, 2009 8:25 PM

Al does not even remember who Kiffin is
And as far as Seymoran who cares he just went to the NFL grave yard

“Mr. Al Davis must have enjoyed UCLA’s 19-15 victory in the Tennessee debut of Lane Kiffin.”
I’d bet he enjoyed that way more than what he’s going to see Monday night.
But the good news is that it’s the 10:00 ET game, so no one will be watching in the east & only a few hundred people will watch nationwide.

It’s damage control time for the Raiders and the Seymour camp. After they mop up this mess, Richard will be able to help Greg Ellis read the riot act to underachievers like Tommy Kelly and Gerard Warren. If they can light a fire underneath these two, it could help the D immensely.
The goal this season should be 8-8. That should be considered a victory, given where this team is coming from. One step at a time.

Raiders are owed an apology from each talking head that said Seymour refused to be a Raider.

    Kiffin debuted last week.

  7. Bigbluefan says: Sep 12, 2009 8:39 PM

He did not want to be a raider but his wife said 5 damn kids to feed get your ass to oakland

I’m glad for Raider Nation that this slug finally showed up. But did anyone actually think that he was ready to flush $3.8 million down the toilet? I didn’t think so. Not even Eugene Parker would be that dumb.

  9. Abe Froeman says: Sep 12, 2009 8:46 PM

    @Shackman v2.0
    Eugene Parker is that dumb.

Belichick subsituted for Seymour quite a bit last year. BB knew he was on the decline.
I think Al was half asleep when Seymour was benched and didn’t know it was really Jarvis Green who was making the big play.

  11. Boston Patriot says: Sep 12, 2009 8:47 PM

Hey, Mike…so much for all that empty banter about “calling this thing off”.

  12. dave says: Sep 12, 2009 8:48 PM

he showed up for the cash, he’ll take plays off in oakland like moss did, then cash in bigtime next offseason
    simple as that really

Ha ha I can see the hate that Seymour hates bellicheck! Rich will get paid now! F all the hatrez! He has always wanted to be a raider!

  14. Legend says: Sep 12, 2009 8:59 PM

File this thing under the heading “All’s well that ends well.”
You media types have freaked out about this thing since the moment the trade was announced. In the absence of real information you guys assumed and assumed and assumed. You guys even screwed up the hard news, as if Seymour was having the NFLPA file a grievance against the Raiders when it was a procedural filing. You guys are as bent against Al Davis as Mortenson, and your credibility is as big a travesty as you feel the Raider franchise is.
By the way Greg, the JMac Tweet you failed to relay correctly was:
“They’re cheering upstairs here in Alameda for reasons other than Richard Seymour’s arrival: UCLA 19, Tennessee Lance Kiffins 15″

  15. JustDieBaby says: Sep 12, 2009 9:04 PM

“Al does not even remember who Kiffin is”
Al doesn’t remember a lot of things, like winning.

  16. Legend says: Sep 12, 2009 9:05 PM

Dave, so you’re saying that Richard Seymour is like Randy Moss? I don’t think there’s much to indicate that Seymour is anywhere near as selfish and irresponsible as Moss. I expect him to play his heart out; for the money, and for the pride.

    To: Joe In Toronto, Canada.
    T.O. JOE…..
Damn Right…. The Raidahhs will be back.
By The Way….. Great Win over the Ti-Cats…
    Go Lions against Montreal.

  18. mnoise says: Sep 12, 2009 9:13 PM

Belichick must feel like Billy the Kid, because this trade will prove to be a robbery in the end.

  19. masterblaster78 says: Sep 12, 2009 9:26 PM

Glad to see Seymour being a man. First looking out for his family all the while staying in touch with his new team. This says a lot about the man. Now who will the Raiders cut to make room? Joseph again? Go Raiders!!! Be feared Chargeless

  20. Legend says: Sep 12, 2009 9:34 PM

    They need to cut Watkins.

  21. Shackman v2.0 says: Sep 12, 2009 9:49 PM

    @Abe Froeman.
I’m man enough to admit it when I’m wrong. Yes, Eugene Parker is that dumb. Apparently, I missed this whole Michael Crabtree thingy.

  22. JSpicoli says: Sep 12, 2009 10:11 PM

Lol Kiffin. I listened to the game on XM. Lame ran 4 times from first and goal at the 7 and failed to get the game winning td. Then and earlier in the game his lame scheme was apparent. Ucla was in charge all day.

  23. cannonarm says: Sep 12, 2009 10:14 PM

Al Davis thinks Howie Long is still on the team.

  24. thumper/ says: Sep 12, 2009 10:39 PM

ha ha masterblaster, staying in touch with his new team??? Is that why big al sent the five day letter because he was in touch….
I hope for you ra-dah fans he helps you, I think
he cake walked through the last 3 seasons and was helped very much by the rest of the D line
