Carlos Rogers expected to start

Redskins cornerback Carlos Rogers has been bothered by a calf injury throughout the preseason, but he's expected to be in the starting lineup against the Giants on Sunday afternoon.

Jason Reid of the Washington Post reports that a source told him that Rogers, who wasn't able to play in the final two preseason games, is good to go for the season opener. That pushes Fred Smoot back into a nickel back role and should allow the Redskins to pressure Eli Manning with confidence that they can cover the Giants wide receivers down the field.

In other Redskins roster news, Reid reports that rookie Jeremy Jarmon will be active while veteran Renaldo Wynn will be on the inactive list. It's a bit of a surprise as Wynn gives them experienced depth at both defensive end positions, as well as some knowledge of the Giants system by virtue of spending the 2008 season in New York.

Well, he played, but he still can't catch. He let an INT go right through his hands in the first half against NY. Made a perfect play, broke on the ball, stepped in front of the receiver, and missed the catch.

Would probably have been a pick 6, too.
