Jaguars starter Hayward has fracture in leg

Jaguars defensive end Reggie Hayward accepted a pay cut just a week ago to stay with the organization.

His immediate future with the team, however, is up in the air after an injury in Week One.

Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio told Michael C. Wright of the Florida Times-Union that Hayward has a fracture in his lower leg that may require surgery.

Hayward’s production has fallen off lately, but he started for the Jaguars Sunday and recorded a sack on Peyton Manning.

Assuming Hayward is out for a while, the team will likely ask second-year player Quentin Groves to step in a starting role.

Hayward is a classy guy and put forth a great effort against the Colts (getting a sack and being stout against the run).
I hope they don’t have to put him on IR–that would be a huge blow to the defense.
