Nicks has foot sprain

Giants rookie wide receiver Hakeem Nicks left his first NFL game with a foot sprain.

Initial x-rays are negative, but anyone who follows the NFL knows how tricky these injuries can be.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin mentioned the top of Nicks’ foot and his arch in reference to the injury.  It’s uncertain if the injury is a “Lisfranc” sprain, which would make it more difficult for Nicks to return to the field stuff.

Nicks was reportedly in a boot and crutches after the game, but didn’t seem that concerned, calling it a “knick-knack” injury.  Tests on Monday will see if he’s right.

And the Giants may not be as concerned as you’d think, after impressive games by wideouts Steve Smith and Mario Manningham.

If Nicks misses any time, fellow rookie Ramses Barden, who had a big training camp, could see the field next week.

Hopefully Nicks will be back sooner then later. The Giants could definitely use him next week against Dallas.

Solid performance by Eli Manning today versus Florio’s NFC representative for the Superbowl. I wonder if Florio will step up and give props to the Manning. Probably not.

I’ve read about him, heard analysis about him,… but never seen him… God DAMN that’s a big fat ass!

Solid performance by Eli? Not really. Solid performance by the Giants Defense? Yes.
Eli made a few really poor decisions throwing some of those passes. For instance, the pass down the middle of the field, while off balance, being heavily pursued, from inside his own 20, which was intercepted. He was they only converted for 3 pts. There were other throws that he was fortunate enough not to have picked. The Skins defense is pretty decent, but still. Just some bad decisions being made. Maybe his mind is still in the preseason.

shawshank, it actually was a solid performance by eli. he converted a lot of third downs and he was hitting his wr’s through traffic. He made one bad pass which is a tough through, he should have held on to it, but give me a break, enough with everyone using every opportunity to bash him. he played well yesterday, completed almost 70% of his passes and lets not forget about nicks wide open drop, hixon and smith..hixons was about a 55 yard pass.
