The Texans have made Dan Orlovsky their third quarterback for Sunday’s game with the Jets, which means that Rex Grossman is a heartbeat (or aggravated sprained ankle) away from taking snaps for Houston.
Grossman has apparently convinced Gary Kubiak that he’s a better choice should something untoward happen to Matt Schaub, at least for now.
Neither Schaub nor Grossman will have Kevin Walter to throw to on Sunday as the Texans wideout’s hamstring won’t allow him to make a go of it. Andre’ Davis starts in his place.
For the Jets, Kevin O’Connell isn’t active and isn’t the third quarterback. Erik Ainge holds that honor, and rookie running back Shonn Greene won’t be in the lineup either.
