Hayward to miss the rest of the season

For the second time in the last four seasons with the Jaguars, defensive end Reggie Hayward suffered a season-ending injury in the season opener.

Hayward will miss the 2009 campaign with a broken leg, although coach Jack Del Rio said he doesn't believe the injury is career-ending.

The Jaguars aren't sure yet what they will do at defensive end.  Hayward started opposite Derrick Harvey in the opener, but Harvey's snaps were limited in the second half of the game against Indianapolis.  Del Rio says that was because of the team's personnel groupings.

It is a frustrating personnel loss for the Jaguars, who played solid team defense against the Colts.

The organization spent all offseason plugging holes on their offensive line, to improved results.

Now they have to fix their defensive line on the fly.

I see Quinton Groves is listed as a backup sam linebacker now? That's who I'd fill that hole with if I wore the leather jacket in Jacksonville.

The Jags can't seem to catch a break, every time they seem to be in good shape something happens and they always seem to either struggle or fall just short of being a top tier team. I wonder how long Jack Del Rio will last, I think he is a good coach but owners seem to have no patience any more (Bucs, Broncos, Chargers, Jets) I'm not saying all these coaches were fantastic but the Steelers have had only 3 coaches since the NFL merger and have never had 2 seasons in a in which they lost 10 games or more.

That comment got off topic quick.

    To this class sucks:

You're as bad as some of the real writers on this site.

What does Reggie Hayward's broken leg have to do with "how long Jack Del Rio" will last? Did Jack go out on the field and break the guy's leg?

And what does Del Rio's tenure as head coach have to do with the number of coaches of a 75-year-old franchise? Why are you comparing the Jaguars (who have had only two coaches in 15 years) to another team? You could sit there and make allusions to other teams' histories all day.

That won't fix Reggie's broken leg.
