Jaguars-Colts one-liners

The Jaguars completed only two passes of more than 15 yards and finished with 114 yards overall in their 14-12 loss to the Colts.

RB Maurice Jones-Drew carried the Jaguars offense, accounting for 29 of their 55 offensive plays.

Rookie Jaguars CB Derek Cox intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble, two good things that didn’t quite make up for his role in helping WR Reggie Wayne finish with 10 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown.

The Jaguars defense used a 3-4 front for the most part, but coach Jack Del Rio wouldn’t say whether or not that was a permanent change.

Before leaving the game with a leg injury, Jaguars DE Reggie Hayward recorded his fourth career sack of Colts QB Peyton Manning.

Manning tied Johnny Unitas for the Colts franchise record for career victories on Sunday.

Said Colts LB Gary Brackett to his teammates before the final Jaguars series, “This is the situation we want. In order to prove we’re one of the top defenses in the league, we need to make statements early. We need to prove to people we can make stops.”

Colts defensive ends Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis provided constant pressure against Jaguars rookie tackles Eben Britton and Eugene Monroe.

For the third time in his career, Manning threw an interception on the first Colts drive of the season.

Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star gave the Colts run offense a “D” in his postgame report card.
