We’ve recently speculated that Bills coach Dick Jauron might have opted to fire offensive coordinator Turk Schonert in order to clear out of the coaching staff a guy who might have been a candidate to take the thing over if Jauron had been fired during the season.
Regardless of whether Schonert would have gotten consideration for the interim gig, it now looks like Jauron made an appropriate assessment of Schonert’s character.
We’ve recently pointed out that Schonert went on the radio in the wake of his termination and claimed that Jauron wanted a “Pop Warner offense.”
Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported earlier tonight that Schonert also called owner Ralph Wilson to thank him for the opportunity to work for the Bills — and to torpedo Jauron.
So it’s good for Jauron not to have to worry about Schonert potentially conspiring against him during the season, and the news of Schonert’s disloyalty to Jauron will potentially make it difficult for anyone else to trust him in the future.
Then again, Eric Mangini found another job.
Ralph Wilson needed that call since he’s the only person in America who hasn’t realized Dick Jauron is stealing from him and isn’t qualified to run a Pop Warner team much less have one of the 32 best coaching jobs in pro sports.
I doubt Turk is finished for good.
There is always college jobs available or the UFL.
With all the different colleges out there (major college and also divisions 2 & lower), he should be able to get something in football…
Turk Schonert’s offense is making Jauron look good tonight ….. and in his soul, Dick knows that.
I’m trying to figure out what the title of the article has to do with anything. Florio, are you saying that being an insurance salesman make you a person of bad character? If so, you are one of the biggest jerks around. My dad spent 45 years selling auto/home/and life insurance. I would venture to say that any spouse/family member that receives a nice hefty check from an insurance company after a death of a loved would be pretty happy that they were sold a policy. If you were trying to disparage his character, why didn’t the title say…
“Turk Schonert might end up blogging for PFT”
Jauron the moron, the play by his special teams says it all.
