Jeezuz H steeler-hater, you are a JESTs a Knicks and a METS fan. Are you serious? Jealous? Jets, Knicks and Mets fans aren't even the Junior Varsity, they're the Special Phuking Olympics! In fact the JESTS are a Jersey team.
--------------------------------
"Jealous" of what? The Boston Red Sox?
lol!
Please... the Sox are still the Yankees' bitches.
Two good seasons out of 90 doesn't change this fact.
None of you Sux fans won't live long enough to see your team with more titles than the Yankees have.
I've nothing to be "jealous" of as far as I am concerned. BoSox fans, on the other hand, are still bitter and jealous of the Yankees. No matter how many titles the Sux ever win, it is in their fans' DNA to be jealous & bitter of the NY Yankees. Say thank you to Babe Ruth and that Boston idiot who traded him to NY for that...

Wow! Tom Brady sure is great. However, even better than Brady is the immortal Tedy Bruschi who worked the game for ESPN (the "Everyone Supports the Patriots Network"). Before the game Tedy explained how T.O. might quit once the Patriots went 14 or 21 points up, which was certain to happen. Of course as accurate as this unbiased prediction, it pales in comparison to Tom Jackson who let us all know that if the Bills were foolish enough to run the no-huddle, then the Patriots would put up at least 70 points!

The defense played like a bunch of guys who aren't familiar with each other. There is a lot of talent there, but it is going to take some time for that unit to gel. you will start to see their best in the second half of the season, probably the last quarter.
Exactly right, stanjam, except they started to look pretty good at the end of this game, which was quicker than I expected with Mayo out.
How far this D can progress will determine how far this team goes this year.
We know the O will have enough points to win most weeks.
Since they are so "lucky".

A.) The kick return was not dumb. He wasn't sure if he stepped into the endzone, if he did, it would have been a safty. THAT would have been dumb. The return chewed the clock down to the two minute warning taking away an extra time out so to speak. He screwed up by fighting for meaningless extra yards.
B.) He did not misshandle the ball. It was stripped from him by two defenders. Should have went down ASAP!
C.) to the "what else did you expect him to say crowd." 32 QB's would have probibly said 32 different things. I hate how every numbnut thinks there could only be two possible ansures to a given question. Way to really put your mind to work. The world is not black and white on anything. Only shades of grey.
D.) A lot of teams would have packed it in after the Bills last score that put them ahead by 11. To discredit a great comeback is just being bitter. "Don't give up. Don't ever give up." A great man once said. To some, that is just lip service.
E.) Last years records where LAST YEAR! What does that have to do with this year? Really? Go to Vegas and bet the over under on wins for a season based on last years records. Under your miget minds, you should be very rich very soon. Go ahead, I'm not going to stop you. Just don't come running to me when you are broke. Ever hear of the draft, free agency, coaching changes ect. Didn't we see the Dolphins go from 1-15 to 11-5?

Tom Brady was Tom Brady. He took an opportunity presented to him and cashed in. That's why he's a great QB.
But there was nothing special about his "call". As a few have pointed out, any QB with half way decent leadership skills would probably say the same thing.
The Patriots were very fortunate. Bottom line is that they barely beat a team with a brand new offensive coordinator, 3 rookies on the O-line, no Lynch and 2 of the best defensive players injured early. There's no way you're convincing me that Patriots teams of a few years back wouldn't have beaten them something like 34-10.

Oh, Lord... gimme a break, will ya?
What is it with these Boston guys and them trying to impersonate the actions of (non-Boston) legends? Or for that matter, some loud mouth trying to start his own phony mythical story only Boston homers would embrace?
Whether it's Paul Pierce and his "injury" return, 'ala Willis Reed or Curt Schilling and his ketchup stain on his sock, it don't matter. Now, Gisele's walker of that sissy weenie dog of hers is trying to become the NFL version of Babe Ruth?
I realize Boston will always be jealous of NY sports and thus they try to create their own mythology but come on. At least try better to pretend not to be. It's so obvious Boston players are trying to live up to the exploits of NY players who have had legendary moments like Ruth's called shot or Reed's return from injury...

lichnor, if you want an honest evaluation I doubt you will get one here. However I will give you my honest appraisal. The Patriots played exactly like the team they are.
The offense played like Brady was rusty and afraid to commit to the pass. That went away towards the end of the game, and the whole offense responded with more confidence. The offense will likely be just fine, but will start to really get its act together over the next week or two.
The defense played like a bunch of guys who aren't familiar with each other. There is a lot of talent there, but it is going to take some time for that unit to gel. you will start to see their best in the second half of the season, probably the last quarter. When they are aggressive they seem to be able to get the pass rush going. They played pretty vanilla early on, probably for just the reason I stated. However it is worthy to note something that isn't being said, especially by the haters, and that is the Bills best two receivers were essentially blanked. TO didn't even have one reception in the first half. When is the last time you saw that? The Bills moved the ball a bit at times, especially with Mayo out, but they struggled on third down, especially early. This has the makings to be, maybe not great, but a very good defense.
All the elements were there for the Pats win, and a big win, last night, they just weren't able to finish drives, and do you think THAT is going to be a recurring theme? Somehow I doubt it with Brady gaining confidence. The PAts OWNED time of possession and third down percentage, and total yards. That usually translates to wins. The game was not as close as the score indicated. The Pats were in control of everything but the score it seemed.
And oh, for those of you who say the Pats were lucky he fumbled, watch the play again. He got MANHANDLED. He was stood up and beaten out of that ball. That wasn't luck, that is good players doing their job, getting the ball back for the offense.

Bigbluefan says: I know NE is a great team but doubt they would have won if the return guy took a knee in the endzone Sometimes luck is better then skill and it showed twice yesterday with two of the so called top teams getting away with a win
------------------------------------------------------
@Bigbluefan:
I agree that the Patriots played poorly and received a couple of breaks last night, but your theory would have to include both sides as well.
For instance, if Matt (or Todd, as Gruden likes to call him) Light had finished his block, I doubt the Bills defensive end would have intercepted Brady and returned it for a touchdown. Or, if the Bills had been called for roughing the passer every time they touched Brady, or if the Patriots hadn't been called for roughing the passer, I doubt the score would have been the same.
My point is that what happened is what happened. Even though the Pats played poorly, when the opportunity to win presented itself they grabbed it and won. The Bills, given the same opportunities, lost.

Patriot Nation:
Y'all squeaked by the Bills.
The Bills are a joke, and last night the punchline was Leodis McKelvin.
Brady looked bad and was putting half weight on his knee all night. The only throw he made not doing that was the last TD to Watson.
Until the Bills went into a bend-but-don't-break scheme, Brady was getting knocked down and around all game.
The Patriots are a good team, but they're not the 18-1 team. The real test will be when they play a real team.

I knew this garbage would come out sooner or later. Fools like you will always choose the best angle to spin your anti-Patriots agenda. So...if Cassel fails this year, it proves that Brady is a product of the system. If Cassel does good this year, it proves Brady is a product of the system and Belichick got lucky. Do I have that right? You clowns really amuse me.
I guess Brady is just following in the footsteps of his idol, Joe Montana- you guessed it, product of the system.

"I am so sick of everyone calling Brady "John Wayne". Please, the only reason the Pats won this game if b/c the Bills fumbled the ball with 2 minutes left. Brady is a fabulous QB, but can we stop giving him credit when it is not deserved. "John Wayne"........please."
Did you watch the same game I did? Because a lot more happened in those last 2 minutes then a fumble that lead to the Bills loss.
How about the Bills defense cashing it in early, and becoming spectators in their own game? How many times did Welker, Moss, and Watson get catches in the last 5 minutes? Not exactly new faces to the Pats offense, and something the Bills should have been able to contend with, but failed when it mattered. Bills D did the unthinkable at the 5 minute mark, and that's taking off the pressure. They thought this game was in the bag, and that is inexperience coupled with crappy couching.
How about the Bills offensive line showing their inexperience when the pressure was on to win, and letting their QB get sacked TWICE. The game was still within reach fro the Bills to win. They had 45 seconds, and 2 time outs to go 40 yards for a field goal. Something very good teams are capable of doing, but the Bills fell to pieces instead.
And where was T.O this whole game? SHUT DOWN that's where. Lee Evans, oh ya also SHUT DOWN. If it wasn't for Schobel being an amazing athlete this would have been an entirely different game on those final 5 minutes.

Excuses, excuses, excuses...that's all I am reading...he spied, the Bills fumbled that's why they won (duh, turn overs usually do that for you...), he wouldn't be a QB if he didn't say that, blah, blah, blah, blah...
Only a handful of QB's can still pull this off. It's not like the Bills just handed them the ball. The Pats took it. Great teams always have a game or three like this in a season, ones they shouldn't have won but somehow pulled off in the end. They may have been a 7-9 team last year, but even you same friggin' people say last year doesn't matter. It is the first game of the season, Monday Night, divisional game...The Bills may not have another effort like this all year, but they came to play last night. Of course the Pats are shaky in certain areas, what team was completely dominate this weekend? We'll see who peaks in mid Nov thru Feb...
Some of you just need to come to reality and accept the fact Brady is back, but just keep talking. The Pats are in for a big game this week against the Jets and will be even more challenged, but they are one of the few teams that are up for it.

McKelvin made the right call in running it out.
If he downs it in the endzone, no time comes off the clock, IIRC there was just over 2 minutes left with the Pats having all their TOs giving the Pats 4 time stoppages in total (3 Tos and the 2 minute warning). The Bills could have gone 3 and out, punted and the Pats would still have 1 TO left to get in the endzone.
If he runs it out, he gets it under 2 minutes and that stoppage happens before their drive starts. if the Bills go 3 and out, the pats would have had to use all their TOs leaving none for their drive to win the game.
Running it out was the right call, just bad sh*t happens.....

What excuse?
I'm actually a Steelers fan.
I thought the Steelers came out the best since they beat the team with the best record last year (and who beat the Steelers into the ground last year) and all the other "super bowl contenders" in the AFC all barely escaped with their lives against far far far inferior teams.
I also thought it weird that none of the top 6 blew out their opponet since in 4 (Pats, chargers, colts, ravens) of the games it was predicted to be easy victories. Certainly the Titans could have handily beat the Steelers since they did so a year ago.
Being a Steelers fan, I know I see the world through Black and Gold glasses, and in my opinion, in the national press the Steelers have gotten the shaft this week, so, I thought I'd ask people in a Brady fluff piece what they thought? I thought I posed the question as innocously as possible.
These Patriot fluff pieces usually attract fans from all teams, so, I also thought it was a good venue to get some honest answers.
Zombie, you can now go back to your hyperventilating now. Oh....and you are right, the Pats do have a lot to worry about....and it makes me smile. :-)

Being a Jets fan, I still have lots of respect for Brady. I agree with the people that talked about the Bills returner deciding not to take a knee in the end zone. Had he done his job right, we wouldn't be here talking about Brady's great comeback. Instead, we'd be talking about how bad that Pats D was last night

Love the people who say that the Pats were owned by the Bills the whole game. Let's see, the only thing the Bills owned was the score. The Pats owned time of posession, total yards. They didn't score on two chances when they were there, or the score would have been much different. Ditto the two points Wilfork was robbed of.
Sure, butterfingers helped, but if he had taken a knee would that have done it? Umm, nope. The Pats would still have 2 minutes and three time outs to get the ball back. That and the defense was showing signs of life in its aggression late.
Yeah, that defense you all say sucked. The same defense that SHUT OUT TO in the first half (something that hasn't been done in many years). The same defense that made their top two receivers silent all game. Yeah, THAT defense. The defense that did pretty well on third down, THAT defense.
I expected the defense to suck. It is full of new people, and it will take time for them to gel (not to mention they lost Mayo). Yet they pulled it together and did well. They will only get better as the season progresses. And the offense? Brady is BACK, so start your defensive planning now, cause it's gonna be a long season for you Patriot haters!
LMAO this is good!
