Rex Ryan has gone all William Wallace in anticipation of Sunday’s game against the Patriots, rallying Jets fans to stand up against New England tyranny.
Meanwhile, 400 200 miles to the north, the Patriots are hearing Ryan’s bluster but not matching it. {NOTE: On further review, the Patriots won’t be based in Trois-Rivieres, Canada this week.}
Asked Monday night about facing off against the Jets, New England wide receiver Randy Moss said, “I can remember Coach Ryan talking about he ain’t coming to kiss no rings so I think it’s gonna be a big game. . . . I think we have our work cut out for us. The Jets defense has really picked up, they got that rookie quarterback in [Mark Sanchez] so it’s gonna be a barnburner.”
Moss said he has no issue with Ryan’s comments.
“I’ve always been a fan of the Ryan brothers,” he said. “I was in Oakland with Rob [now the defensive coordinator in Cleveland] and I played a couple times [against] Rex in Baltimore and I met old Buddy so I think that [Rex] really meant what he said and I think that he has a really good team backing him.”
During their run of success, the Patriots have often filed away incendiary (or even innocuous) pregame comments and then used them as a rallying point at game time.
Anthony Smith, Freddie Mitchell and Joey Porter can all testify to that. But with the way New England looked Monday against the Bills, the words coming out of Rex Ryan’s mouth this week will probably be the last thing the Pats are worried about.
Randy Moss has always been a good guy at heart. In recent years he has become classy.
As a Vikings fan, I weep for my team’s misfortune to have traded him.
Good luck, Randy. We’ll see you in Canton someday.
Anyone notice how Moss isn’t a jerk anymore since he’s been in New England? Must be the Kool-Aid!
Rex Ryan talks too much smack for a head coach.
“But with the way New England looked Monday against the Bills, the words coming out of Rex Ryan’s mouth this week will probably be the last thing the Pats are worried about.”
Ok, enough with the fricken Doom and Gloom already. You all sound like the pats died, and the 25-24 win over the Bills is just their death rattle. Sure for 3 quarters the Pats looked a little sluggish, and the defense was a little questionable. However, when it really mattered, when the game was on the line, and when play makers needed to make the plays the Patriots did just that.
How many fantasy leagues had Ben Watson undrafted? I bet he isn’t this morning huh? It was great to see Tom Brady suddenly realize with 5 minutes left in the game that he is Tom Fricken Brady, and there are two things that Tom Fricken Brady does, and that’s bang hot women, and throw touch downs, and he was all out of hot women.
If the Pats man handle the Jets this weekend the struggle they had against the Bills will be all forgotten, and everyone will saying the Pats are superbowl bound yadda yadda. Must be nice to be paid to write bullshit
Don’t forget my offseason prediction of no better than a third place division standing for the Cheatriots this year. I’m even more sure now after watching last night’s game.
Rex is a blowhard, from a long line of blowhards.
The Jets looked good against *the Texans*.
The Pats looked really rusty, ok, crappy, through 3 1/2 quarters, but damn did they all start pulling it together at the end!
The Jets will lose.
Rex will be turned into a blubbering fat-ass.
Sanchez will be left naked and cold in the corner of the locker room babbling something to himself like, “but…but…but…I was good last week…remember that? How good I was last week…? You guys saw me…right?”
I love to say, “I told you so”, but do any Pats’ fans still want Ben Watson to be cut?
400 Miles to the North??? That would put you somewhere in Canada. Try 200 Miles.
Just busting on you Tom. Love your work from the ProJo.com days and you are a great add to PFT.
I think it’s not bullshit to suggest that the Patriots will be working to correct the things that led to them needing some breaks and clutch plays to pull out a close game. And it’s not bullshit to suggest that if they play the way they did last night against stiffer competition they’re likely to lose some games.
I’m with Moss on this one. Baseball was more fun with Steinbrenner, and the Pats/Jets rivalry is more fun with Rex.
Plain and simple. Randy Moss has grown up from being a 21 year old kid, to a 32 year old man. He’s a good guy. I was vex when Red McCombs forced him to leave our Vikings.
…and there are two things that Tom Fricken Brady does, and that’s bang hot women, and throw touch downs, and he was all out of hot women….
And Suzy Kolber is obviously not hot enough as Brady could have followed the lead of Joe Namath and asked Kolber if he could kiss her after the game but instead he blew her off.
Of course, why anyone associated with ESPN not named Tedy Bruschi would expect any Patriot not to blow them off is a mystery to me. Although, surprisingly, Belichick is still friendly with Chris Berman (and I think he is reasonably friendly with Gruden too, in spite of the Tuck rule game).
Geez tomBradysbaby…why is it that so many patriot fans are always angry and bitter …you guys win all of the time .you should be a lot happier.
The thing is ..the pats were losing the battle at the line of scrimmage..something that hasn’t been the case for a while. the bills defense is bland and awful. Their starting a rookie offensive line with a new o coordinator running a ridiculous version of the no huddle.
The Patriots of old used to make thier own luck..this team needed on of the most boneheaded plays Ive ever seen to give them a chance to come back….With the game on the line the buffalo offense walked down the field and scored the TD to go up by 11. As a JET fan im going to be there to see the PATs get abused..it wont taste as sweet however..this is not the same pats team.but Ill take it none the less.
Seymore was the final straw they are done
One time the Patriots lost to the Bills in a season opener 31-0, and they went 14-2 on the season and won the SB. That year they released Milloy right before the season opened and this year they traded Seymour right before.
I smell history repeating?
400 miles to the north? That would be somewhere around Montreal. Foxboro is about 200 miles to the east-northeast, just for accuracy sake…
Anyhow, the Pats will obviously use any perceived slight to their advantage. Par for the course.
However, if the Jets blitz is as successful as it was against Houston, the Jets might have a chance. Matt Light was HORRIBLE last might, getting blown 5 yards off the line of scrimmage on every single play.
“Must be nice to be paid to write bullshit
”
It could be worse – you could not get paid to write bullshit, like you just did.
It’s only 200 miles to the North.
Love the Patriot hate the devil.
—that is a great clip…Rex Ryan is 7 feet tall
Those like you, Mike, judging the Patriots (or any team for that matter) after just one game, and that against a divisional rival, are not looking at them realistically.
The first Belichick championship Patriots were a lot like the team we saw last night. Not dominant but good enough to win games, especially the close ones.
And it’s JUST ONE GAME.
The Patriots are one of the top teams in the league and it is ridiculous to imply otherwise because of last night.
This should be a great game….can’t wait to watch it.
BOYCOTT ADVERTISERS OF FNIA UNTIL DOUCHEBAG OLBERMANN IS REMOVED.
GE(DUH!), PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE(DUH!), TACO BELL, LEVI’S, GM(DUH!), ……….
Last I checked it was only about 220 miles from Boston to New York City. There goes PFT again totally exaggerating..
“400 miles to the North” ?
Try 210 miles from East Rutherford, NJ to Foxboro, MA.
It ain’t 400 hundred miles.
While TomBradysBaby posts from his laptop in a vent just above Brady’s locker at Gillette, I wanted to take this opportunity to praise Randy Moss… without getting all stalker about it.
As a Jets fan, I categorically despise every Patriots player, coach, owner and organizational employee. But Randy… Randy is the exception to that rule. He’s a not a true Patriot. He hasn’t won a superbowl yet. He’s just the greatest born WR that was tired of playing with bad quarterbacks.
Now on to the game itself. The Patriots defense is suspect. The Bills did not get the ball to T.O. or Lee Evans, and Trent Edwards is nothing special (cough… noodle arm… cough —- and trust me, I know one when I see one, I spent 2002-2007 watching Chad Pennington). Fred Jackson tore up the Patriots!
How do ya think Leon Washington and Thomas Jones are gonna fair? How much better do ya think the Jets offensive line is than the Bills?
And now to the fun part… defense. We’ve got Shaun Ellis back for this game… and Shaun Ellis plays great against the Patriots (http://www.nysun.com/pics/1932_large.jpg – he forced a fumble on Brady on the last play to win that game).
We’ll put Revis on Moss. We’ll blitz Brady with ferocity and creativity. And all of you that say “But Brady is great against the Blitz”… well check his numbers against the Ravens the past 5 years. When THEY blitz, and by they, I mean when Rex Ryan designs the gameplan, Brady gets knocked around.
I used to be a Christian, but I dropped that once the NFL went High Def… I now worship Rex Ryan on Sundays.
serious class from Moss. I hope TO & Ochocinco watch what Moss says & does and learn from him.
Blue paint on the face is totally against the uniform rules, but if you see the Jets walk in with spears – twice as long as a man, or six times longer than Florio – you might want to advise Brady not to dive into the line for a first down.
How many more games do we have to win for the Cheatriot name to go away? I guess after all that hoopla they still must be letting us cheat. How nice of the NFL. If only they could be so kind to Detroit.
Merriweather , Wood and Gostkowski made their own luck just like Tedy adn company did back in the day.
They went at McKelvin like mad dogs , or at least players aware of the situation
Jim johnson laid the blueprint on how to beat the pats 2 years ago, with his pupil finally being successful. But rex, with the ravens, came one time out mistake away from beating the pats. While the ravens d isn’t the jets d, I like the jets offense better. Look for a competitive game, maybe this time they won’t b giving the pats 11 points
Tom Brady blew off Suzy Kolber because she likes the girls. Joe “Willie” was to suaced to remember.
Ryan, you are a fat piece of crap!
