As expected, the Jaguars announced earlier today the defensive end Reggie Hayward has been placed on injured reserve.
Hayward broke a leg in the regular-season opener, literally.
To fill his spot on the roster, the Jags elevated cornerback Kennard Cox from the practice squad, and backfilled the slot on the practice squad by signing defensive end Robert Henderson.
Hayward suffered the broken leg during the Colts’ last offensive snap (pun not intended), a fourth-and-one try that Jacksonville stuffed.
Hayward will earn the balance of his $1.75 million base salary. He is due to become an unrestricted free agent in 2010.
