Tuesday morning one-liners

Said Dolphins owner Steve Ross of buying the team for $1.1 billion, “Let’s put it this way, I wouldn’t call it a shrewd investment,  I didn’t steal it certainly.”

The Jets waived CB Marquise Cole to make room for DE Shaun Ellis on the active roster.

The Ravens put the ball in the air often against the Chiefs, but also found success in the running game.

Said Bengals S Chris Crocker of the touchdown that beat them on Sunday, “That play was a miracle.  I’m not going to give them any credit and they didn’t do anything to deserve that play.  We played our butts off.”  [Editor's note:  And inexplicably had no one stationed at deep center field safety on the decisive play.]

Browns QB Brady Quinn took the blame for the team’s poor offensive performance against the Vikings.

Steelers LB Lawrence Timmons hasn’t returned to practice yet, but is hopeful he’ll be able to play against the Bears.

CB Aaron Ross won’t practice this week because of a hamstring injury and won’t play when the Giants travel to Dallas.   

Although their defense had a great day on Sunday, the Eagles probably aren’t too thrilled by their safety situation at the moment.

Former Redskins LB and current D.C. radio host Lavar Arrington said that the Redskins weren’t physically prepared to play four quarters of football.

Bears coach Lovie Smith said that CB Nathan Vasher wasn’t the only player to blame for allowing Packers WR Greg Jennings to score Sunday’s game-winning touchdown.

The Lions hope to get TE Brandon Pettigrew more involved in the passing game this week.

Packers defensive linemen Cullen Jenkins and Johnny Jolly got game balls for their work disrupting the Bears offense on Sunday night. 

Neither T Phil Loadholt nor C John Sullivan was perfect on Sunday, but both rookies first-time starters won praise from coach Brad Childress.

CB William Middleton, released last week, was re-signed to the Falcons practice squad.

Panthers DE Julius Peppers said he’s happy right now, but doesn’t regret anything he said about wanting to leave the team.

Saints coach Sean Payton said that the team is more concerned with themselves than with who starts at quarterback for the Eagles.

Buccaneers coach Raheem Morris dared the media to continue wondering why the team re-signed WR Michael Clayton during the offseason.

Said 49ers coach Mike Singletary of his offensive line, “We did not play well. Our offensive line, at some point this year, will be one of the better offensive lines in the league, but in this game, they did not play well.”

With LB Leroy Hill sidelined by a groin injury, the Seahawks re-signed veteran LB D.D. Lewis and waived DL Derek Walker.

    Vikings C John Sullivan isn’t a rookie. That error, however, is a rookie mistake.

    I know that if Polian wanted Marvin, we would be the first to know! (he ALWAYS tells the truth) That 37 year could kick your butt camp or no camp.
