Tyree gets a look-see in St. Louis

One of the heros of Super Bowl XLII, dumped by the Giants roughly 20 months after catching a football off the side of his helmet, continues to look for work.

And he might get it with one of the guys whose current job status likely can be attributed in part to David Tyree’s incredible catch.

Former Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, the first-year coach of the Rams, has invited Tyree to town for a Tuesday workout.

During the season, teams typically bring in one or more players for tryouts on Tuesdays, since that’s the usual day off for players already employed by the club.

Since being cut, Tyree has visited the Ravens.

David Tyree deserves to play in the NFL. The Rams need help in the WR area. They should sign him right now.

florio, the giants did not”dump”tyree.the giants kept the man on the payroll an extra year in hopes that he could come back from injury.
as much as i respect tyree, the unfortunate reality of football came to pass and the giants could no longer hold an open roster spot for him.
what makes me happy for him is the road he took in life,he left the wild side and crossed over to the productive side of life.
good luck david,i hope you make it in st. louis.

Florio – is the misspelling of “heroes” a subliminal message to watch your employer’s show?
@coughlin’s coat holder — the Giants cut Tyree. “Dumped” is a synonym for “cut”. Therefore, Tyree got dumped. When he got injured, his salary was already guaranteed, so there was no point in cutting him then. Then didn’t do him any favors by keeping him on the roster.

Had similar situation with my Packers and Terrence Murphy back in 2005. Granted he wasn’t anywhere close to having a Super Bowl grab like Tyree…but an injury forced them to cut him loose. Good luck to Tyree wherever he goes.
