Cassel uncertain for Sunday

During the third game of the preseason, Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel injured an MCL in his knee.  He missed the Week One game at Baltimore.

Cassel was a game-time decision against the Ravens, so the assumption would be that, with another week of healing and treatment, Cassel would be ready to play.

On Tuesday, however, coach Todd Haley said he’s unsure whether Cassel will play, but that the team hopes to get a feel for Cassel’s availability earlier in the week.

Sure they do.

Look, the game here is to force the Raiders to prepare for Cassel and Brodie Croyle (and, for maybe a series or two, Tyler Thigpen).  So even if Haley knows that Cassel will return, there’s no reason to say so on Tuesday.  Or Wednesday.  Or any time before Sunday.

So look for Cassel to be a limited participant in practice for most of the week, to be listed as questionable for Sunday, and then to be named the starter at some point on the morning of the game, possibly during ProFootballTalk.com’s Countdown to Kickoff, exclusively on Sporting News Radio.

Hey, we’ll work in a plug wherever and whenever we can.

is it really that big of a deal to prepare for Cassell and Croyle? maybe prepping for Croyle’s wife would take much more thought.

THe only thing that’s for certain, is that the Cheifs aren’t going to win. It doesn’t matter who plays QB.
