Colts take a look at veteran wideouts

The Colts don’t want to re-sign Marvin Harrison, but they are willing to consider D.J. Hackett, David Patten, and Chad Jackson.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Colts tried out all three veteran wideouts Wednesday as they looked for depth in the wake of Anthony Gonzalez’s knee injury.

It’s uncertain how long Gonzalez will be out for, but he’s sprained multiple knee ligaments.

Another option for the Colts could be Hank Baskett, who cleared waivers Wednesday.  (Baskett seems more likely to join a team like Baltimore.)

If the Colts sign a veteran, it will likely indicate that Gonzalez is out for at least a month.  It may also signal slight unease with the performance of young receivers Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie, who played most of the opener against Jacksonville.

Peyton Manning threw eight passes to the two players, with five catches and only 39 yards resulting from the throws.

They have 4 WR on the roster with Gonzo out they have to pick someone up so it doesn’t show an uneasiness with the young guys. Keep stirring it up Patoritphiles and Bradyphiles.

Every few years there’s a guy who comes out of the CFL that makes you wonder why they don’t look there. Well maybe the Colts ought to be looking there. They’ll play cheap and their motivation is through the roof.

If the Colts sign a wr, it wont be because they’re unhappy with the young guys. Whoever they sign will back those guys up, not start.

It makes me wonder what other factors might be in play for the Colts to consider these guys…and NOT Marvin “HandGun” Harrison. Hmmmm???

Gonzalez is injury prone. He was great in college but it looks like the NFL level is taking a beating on him. I smell bust.

If they sign a receiver, it may have something to do with the fact that there are a total of THREE healthy wide receivers on the roster.
And I may not understand the waiver process, but if they wanted to sign Hank Baskett, couldn’t they have claimed him off waivers?

The Real Question Is…Why The F-ck is Matt Jones not on a Team?
Patriots, Colts, Bears….All of these teams have a pretty good history of control over players and character. And Jones is a pretty good receiver(Better than Pierre Garcon, Austin Collie, All of the Bears Receivers, And would fit nicely as the third option long term for the Pats.) It just doesnt really make any sense. I Dont think anyone has come out with a reason as to why either. And dont say drug history because the league has a reputation for being a drug league and nobody can dispute that. Lets not kid ourselves nobody knows what Jones can do with a legitimate ProBowl QB and we certainly know what he can do with “Slingshot” Leftwich and David Carusso(I think thats his name, The guy with sunglasses?) I would take this guy in a heartbeat and stop fooling around with these other hacks.

Marvin doesn’t need to play and to get him to play would be the most expensive option out there.

Gotta agree with Ralph Grenader. It boggles my mind why Matt Jones is not on a team. They must know something we do not about Matt Jones’ current situation

Maybe if this guy didn’t have more white stuff on him then a baby powder factory, he would be signed….it seems to me that sniffing coke (A few times) in the vicinity of a cop, tells me this guy is not smart enough to live in the real world, let alone learn Peyton’s offense

And why has nobody signed Bo Jackson? Doesn’t anybody play Tecmo Super Bowl anymore?
