Colts take a look at veteran wideouts

The Colts don’t want to re-sign Marvin Harrison, but they are willing to consider D.J. Hackett, David Patten, and Chad Jackson.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Colts tried out all three veteran wideouts Wednesday as they looked for depth in the wake of Anthony Gonzalez’s knee injury.

It’s uncertain how long Gonzalez will be out for, but he’s sprained multiple knee ligaments.

Another option for the Colts could be Hank Baskett, who cleared waivers Wednesday. (Baskett seems more likely to join a team like Baltimore.)

If the Colts sign a veteran, it will likely indicate that Gonzalez is out for at least a month. It may also signal slight unease with the performance of young receivers Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie, who played most of the opener against Jacksonville.

Peyton Manning threw eight passes to the two players, with five catches and only 39 yards resulting from the throws.
