Colts catching Baskett

To little surprise, no one put in a waiver claim for former Eagles receiver Hank Baskett and his $1.545 million base salary in 2009.

And, to even less surprise, the Colts have landed Baskett as a free agent, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Colts have obvious needs at the position, given the loss of Anthony Gonzalez to a knee
injury.

That said, it's always difficult for a receiver to make an impact on a new team with a new offense when added to a train that's already rolling.

It's likely even harder when the receiver in question is a guy who has averaged less than 350 receiving yards per season during a three-year career.

I wonder how Kendra feels about this.

McNabb and Baskett never jelled. He will thrive in Indy.

  4. Big Stretch says: September 17, 2009 9:09 AM

good pickup for the colts now it will give me a reason to watch.

"Hank Baskett over Matt Jones? and Bill Polian is supposed to be a great football mind?"

Are you serious? Did you really think Indy would be picking up a cokehead who has worse hands and a 2 cent melon?

He wasn't good enough to stick it out in Jacksonville let alone a team with good receivers.

Baskett will be gone in 4 weeks so this hardly means a thing.

    Brewster:

Its reported that Matt Jones wants far too much money. He's 'better' than Hank Baskett... but is he 4 or 5 times better to justify 4 or 5 times the money, while also having a history of off the field issues?

The guy is a 4th or 5th WR and good special teamer stop making it out to be more than it is. You can't gel with Mcnabb when you play 10 plays a game and he throws to you 1-2 times.

Baskett sucks. There is a reason why he went unclaimed on waivers.

  9. WWNYGD says: September 17, 2009 10:18 AM

Dude, the title should be "The Colts Get Kendra". Baskett sucks, but Kendra... HELOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  10. Brooklyn Eagle says: September 17, 2009 10:21 AM

Hank Baskett is a quality special teams player and a great blocker. That's likely all the Colts will ask him to do, anyway.

  11. OZZ says: September 17, 2009 10:24 AM

He'll do fine for the Colts as a 4th option.

And why all the Matt Jones love? He wasn't all that good even when he wasn't coked up.

Colts will not overpay for a 4th WR...

For those who are gung ho (so to speak) about Kendra: just remember, Baskett is grabbing leftover scraps from 80-yr-old men.

Say what you will but are you going to say you would not do her the 80 year old was every mans idol HH

Indy went up 12 points on the hot babe meter by signing Kendra

The Colts catching Hank Baskett is a win win for both. This way he will have more playing time and show the talent that he has. GO HANK!! And everyone who is talking crap needs to get a flippen life, who are you people anyway!

I'm telling you all right now, Baskett is good and everyone will know after he does great in Indy.

  16. Stradivarius says: September 17, 2009 11:34 AM

Who else thinks 'Meg and Stacey' are really 'Hank and Kendra'???

Somebody check bigbluefan for friction burns. Hefner's money is the pork chop he's got around his neck that gets dogs to play with him. Idol? He's nothing but a "john" that has to pay for it and Baskett is married to one of his former live-in hookers. If you've got enough cash I'm sure she'd bang you, too. And JimmySmith, if he were straight or at least bi.

  18. Big Stretch says: September 17, 2009 11:47 AM

    @VoxVeritas :

    Jealous much

Thank god Kendra was putting in the annulment papers when her hubby lost his job.

Its sad to think this poor mook got a job because his wife has a hot ass.

"I'm telling you all right now, Baskett is good and everyone will know after he does great in Indy. "

Wouldn't doubt it, since he'll be playing with a QB that doesn't look for checkdown guys first in his reads.

Wow and you claim to be speak the truth as your name insinuates? Surely you don't speak the truth about football since you don't know what a west coast offense is; which employs the use of running backs as receivers.

I am sure you are referring to McNabb and Westbrook. You can call Westbrook a check down all you want, I'm very happy when he has the ball in his hands.

Really? You're a scout and you know that despite his lack of production to this point, he will somehow be really good? Look I have no problem with Baskett (he's a great #4, or average #3), just fans who think they are scouts and get on here proclaiming a certain player is the answer or is good when all the evidence in the world says otherwise. Yeah a blind squirrel will find an acorn sometimes, but really, you don't know what you're talking about.

  23. Meg and Stacey says: September 17, 2009 3:35 PM

You wish this was Hank and Kendra, we know a good player when we see one. Too bad for the Eagles to loose such a good player, but lucky for the Colts

  24. Meg and Stacey says: September 17, 2009 3:45 PM

Oh and please remember that Hank got on the Eagles LONG before he ever met Kendra so quit with all your "he only got a job because of her ass". GET A LIFE!!!!!
