More trouble for Charles Rogers

Not long ago, word surfaced that former Lions receiver Charles Rogers would be heading up to Canada.

As it turns out, he might be heading up the river.

Rogers was arrested Wednesday night for DUI, after being found unresponsive behind the wheel of his Mercedes.

And that raises a very important question.

How in the hell does this guy still have a Mercedes?

Rogers, the second overall pick in the 2003 draft, faces up to 93 days in jail for driving under the influence and driving without a valid license.

He and Pacman Jones were reportedly heading to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.  But the Bombers had to bounce Rogers because CFL rules prohibits teams from signing players who are under suspension with the NFL.

And neither of those things was the worst development of the past month for Rogers.  The Lions have sued him to enforce a $6.1 million arbitration award, which is part of an effort by the team to recover signing bonus money that was forfeited when he was suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

i actually feel bad for this guy. his life is a mess(i know, his doing), but there is something not right with his head. He needs help. He isnt Pacman, he just has a chemical dependency problem, and it is too bad.

Damn and the NFL had just got to double digits in days without arrest.
They were really starting to make some progress!

    Unresponsive?
How are you to the point of being that piss drunk that you’re blacking/passing out and STILL decide to drive? I understand you make bad decisions when alcohol is involved, but jeez…

Yo Charles, call Tony Dungy. If he can get a convicted felon back in the NFL there is still hope for you.

It was in for an oil change but he noticed that the owner doesn’t really LOVE the car so he carnapped it.

Rogers is not in the NFL so he doesn’t count as an NFL arrest.
    Sad story.

More lame assumptions. Why is it assumed that the Mercedes is an expensive car? Now if you have knowledge that it is a NEW Mercedes with a present value of any significance, then say so, and tell us that info, but don’t make assumptions, it just makes you look like a bad writer and then causes people like me to harp on you about it. Writing about sports shouldnt be so complicated that you provoke me to comment on the ridiculous blunders so often.
I thought you were a lawyer? You should know how the legal system works, it doesn’t work that way and YOU know that, so why ask a question that you and anybody who knows the basics of the legal system should already have the answer to?

They just said on ESPN that it is a 2003 Mercedes.

Typical. The NFL even coaches these guys when they first come into the league about the troubles they can avoid just by using common sense. OOPS! Most of these coddled players don’t have any.

Call Bruce Smiths lawyer – Sounds like sleep apnea to me.
Also, is it collusion for the CFL to copy NFL suspensions? Or is it a moot point due to the fact the CFL is only in Canada…
They can say what they want, but I guarantee its an inside deal to play nice with the NFL – Other than that its not a good business move.
