PFT's Week Two picks are posted

Every week, yours truly and Gregg Rosenthal will offer a combined set of game picks for your perusal.

And we’ll mention it here, so that you’ll click on the link, check out the picks, and maybe submit your own.

If we do well in a given week, we’ll mention it here.

Last week, for example, we were 12-4.

When I do a better job with my half than Rosenthal does with his, I’ll mention it, too.

Last week, I was 7-1, and Rosenthal was 5-3.

Generally, I pick the games in which an NFC team is the visitor, and Rosenthal takes the games with an AFC team as the road team.

This week, Rosenthal picks against the Steelers, again.

Yeah, this is gonna be easy.

Eagles can’t score 31 without McNabb and Saints will not give up easy turnovers like the Panthers did.
Packers game shouldn’t be that close. See them winning easy.
Like the NBC layout and picks are not too bad.

Did you know that Romo has never lost to the Giants in the regular season? The more you know…

  3. Wartooth says: Sep 17, 2009 10:51 PM

Wow! you really think that the 9er’s beating a team that has lost their last 6 games really makes them the king of the NFC west? The Cards were why beyond lucky last year, an anomaly. And the 9er’s just barely beat them.
The Hawks will win this game.

“…The quarterback that makes the fewest mistakes wins: we’ll take Cutler and a desperate Bears team in an upset.
    Pick: Bears 16, Steelers 14 …”
    WHAT??!!?!
    LOL, Hahahaaaahaahaaa!
    OMFG!
    Pick6 Cutler??
    LMFAO!
    Stop!! You’re killin’ me!!
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!
Uh, Sorry, I only wanted to respectfully disagree.

    @ Florio
I expect praise for the New York Jets, their coach and their defense when they win this sunday.

  6. Klytus says: Sep 17, 2009 10:58 PM

You picked the Bears over the Steelers? And the Chargers over the Ravens? Both the Bears and the Chargers are overrated. Everybody except their fans are expecting the Steelers to phone it in this year. It’s a different year with a different coach. The Steelers and the Ravens are going to do some business this weekend.
I’d stay away from the Pats at the Jets this weekend. The Patriots defense is GONE! Seymour, Brussci, Harrison, Vrabel, etc. and Mayo is hurt. The Jets defense will be unpredictable. Ben Rothlesberger was asked if he could figure out the Ravens defense when Ryan was defensive coordinator. His one word answer was NO.
    GO STEELERS!

  7. mustbechris says: Sep 17, 2009 10:58 PM

Eagles got picked to beat the Saints. I’m gonna say Florio didn’t pick that one.

  8. Buschman says: Sep 17, 2009 10:59 PM

I would actually read the picks if I didn’t have to click on each and every game to see it. That’s an annoying way for you to increase page views. It’s almost as annoying as having to log in every time I have to post a comment. For the 119th time, fix that sh*t.

  9. florio's_mom says: Sep 17, 2009 11:14 PM

Broncos will go 3-0 and then lose 10 straight.

  10. florio's_mom says: Sep 17, 2009 11:15 PM

Just out of curiosity? Who did you pick wrong florio?

  11. munnny says: Sep 17, 2009 11:30 PM

How lame. Any damn fool can go 12-4 without the spread. If you can make your picks against the spread, why waste our time?

  12. Mike Florio says: Sep 17, 2009 11:31 PM

    @florio’s_mom . . . .
i picked the redskins over the giants. doh.
my not incorrect picks were eagles, vikings, saints, cowboys, 49ers, seahawks, packers.

I don’t see the Vikes giving up 24 points to the Lions. What have you been smoking?

  16. raideralex99 says: Sep 17, 2009 11:52 PM

Here is what I don’t understand … you have the Chiefs rated higher than the Raiders … yet you pick the Raiders. I guess that’s what you call having your bases covered.

  17. Mike Florio says: Sep 17, 2009 11:55 PM

Re: Cardinals eastern trips and prediction of Jaguars 26, Cardinals 10

That late loss east streak last year basically were played in the NORTHeast! Last regular season game in Carolina was a close loss. Last trip to Carolina in the playoffs was a wipeout of the Panthers.

  25. daffy87 says: Sep 18, 2009 12:57 AM

Browns will beat the Broncos. Mangini will go with the run early and keep it rolling, Jamal Lewis averaged 5.0 yards per carry against one of the league’s best rush defenses…he will eviscerate the Broncos defense.

    1) 12-4 w/o spread is not impressive, so no need to brag :)
    2) I only read a couple of predictions b/c I dislike having to click on multiple links
    3) The requirement to log in every time I visit this site in order to post a comment is annoying. I would appreciate an explanation as to why this has not been changed, as multiple posters have repeatedly complained about it (which is also annoying lol).
    Still love ya Florio

  27. DocBG says: Sep 18, 2009 1:14 AM

Allright Florio, its gone on long enough.
Is NBC paying you for every seinfeld referance? If thats the case, it must not be very much based on the frequency of them. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. (Doubts arise as to whether or not you’ll get the last line)

  28. Mullester says: Sep 18, 2009 1:16 AM

Wartooth: are you an idiot the last game the Cards lost was the superbowl. The Seachickens played the team that has now lost it’s last 11 games. The Niners will win this game!

  29. mws says: Sep 18, 2009 1:37 AM

Cowboys all the way. Giants have a bad run game this year. Just watch the Redskins game.

  30. Twiz says: Sep 18, 2009 2:25 AM

Whatever you are smoking Florio, you need to start sharing!
Lions couldn’t score 24 points against a high school team!

“The quarterback that makes the fewest mistakes wins: we’ll take Cutler ”
Are you MORONS serious? I don’t think there is a person in the world that would take Cutler over Roethlisberger! (other than you 2 idiots of course) How many come from behind victories for Cutler? How many Superbowls? Win percentage?
The Bears are in for an @ss whoopin! We’re going to see just how good that Titans defense was last week by tearing apart a weak secondary and holes in the LB corps.

  32. DanRooney says: Sep 18, 2009 5:24 AM

You guys should check out Prisco’s idiotic predictions. Why hasn’t CBS fired his ass yet?
Dolphins over Colts (ok he believes in that wildcat malarkey over a real offense)
Bears over Steelers (also his 2nd week in a row picking against the champs. i honestly don’t know what aspect of the game the bears are better at aside from RB)
    Bengals over GB (srsly?)
    Texans over Titans (o rly?)
    LIONS OVER VIKINGS (lol wut?)

  33. ernie cohen says: Sep 18, 2009 5:59 AM

Wow. That was sure an in-depth analysis of BAL-SD: the SD advantage in the passing game is bigger than the BAL advantage in the running game. This does presume, though, that they are playing against the same defense. Unfortunately for SD, their D is below average while BAL has probably the best in the league.

But then, neither have the Cowboys. :)
I don’t see the Giants racking up 36, they just don’t score that much. If they win, it will be a low scoring affair. You have to look at the film to see why Dallas got gashed. The issues are correctable, of course, the question is — will they? I have no clue, neither does anyone else.
    @Florio’s Lawyer G1 POTD!

Picks aren’t terrible…but I have a feeling the Lions can put up a fight against the Vikes…

  36. Bob Nelson says: Sep 18, 2009 7:58 AM

A nice bet to place on the Lions. They easily cover the point spread.

Prisco is one of those guys who will pick all the underdogs…..be wrong on 99.9% of his picks…but will stand up on the ONE he got right and say “I called that upset”. What a tool
    Steelers will mangle the Bears
Titans will run it up against Houston
Lions can’t beat a Pop Warner team
and the Dolphins were a fluje last year.
The only game I see a possible…and a stress the word possible upset…is if the Bengals can get up early on Vikes…and force them to have to throw…..but that’s a remote possibility too.

  41. Franchise says: Sep 18, 2009 10:23 AM

I went 24-4 on the sportsbook last week, and 13-3 on straight winners.
The so-called “experts” must throw darts at a board the way they make their picks..

Florio, can you get an updated Texans helmet. They never used the white helmet.

cmon are you serious new england will not be able to score 27 points on that defense. all you people are scared to speak the truth and say new england will lose. you are right ne defense is swiss cheese and that why the jets will score and if a. johnson was held to 4 catches for 35 yards and no td r. moss numbers will be almost the same maybe he will have 1 td. jets win easy time to start writing jets best in afc east
