Kris Jenkins out for Sunday?

ESPN is reporting something about the condition of Jets defensive tackle Kris Jenkins.

We’re just not sure what it is.

Said anchor Chris McKendry on SportsCenter, “John Clayton [is] reporting that the Jets also [are] healthy heading into Sunday’s game against the Patriots.  [The] only one out today [was] nose tackle Kris Jenkins, unable to play with a back injury.”

We don’t know whether this means that Jenkins only missed practice today, or whether it means that he won’t play on Sunday.

Either way, McKendry was way too nonchalant about it, given the importance of Jenkins to the Jets defense.

UPDATE:  Jenkins practiced on Friday and is questionable for Sunday.  So, frankly, we don’t know what the heck McKendry was talking about.

Rex Ryan had a press conference. He is in for Sunday:
    http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/jets/2009/09/notes-from-rex-ryans-press-con.html
“DL Kris Jenkins (back) and DL Sione Pouha (ankle) participated in limited practice but are good to go for Sunday. Jenkins was in a good mood in the locker room and appears good to go. Ryan said that everybody should be ready and it will be up to them as to whomever they hold out. “

McKendry knows they’ll lose either way so that’s why he was so non-chalant.

After all the trash coming out of the mouths of the Jets, the only way he doesn’t play is if he gets his leg amputated.

You know what’s worse than Pats fans? Pats fans who have no idea what they’re talking about.. Chris McKendry is a girl.. Douche!

Bring your A game, Jesters. I would much prefer the Pats beat you assclowns at full strength.

Chris McKendry is just another newsreader who knows very little about sports. Maybe her facelift is a little tight and cutting circulation to her brain, but all week I’ve noticed her general disinterest in sports outside Boston and total lack of knowledge about the highlight she’s covering. This is a problem with a majority of ESPNs “sports reporters”. No love for the game(s) they cover. Or completely biased ad nauseum.

Jenkins will be playing this week …he also said that the Jets are going to have a “NY” mentality..
Jenkins, who grew up outside Detroit, described a New York mentality.
“It’s like a very cocky … everything’s on the line with New York. … That’s one of the things that you kinda realize when you go into the city and things like that … everything’s on the line. Everybody as far as just who they are, everything … just real standoffish, just really in your face. … I don’t think that you can be meek and be in this city. I think that if you’re gonna be in this city, at some point, somewhere, you’re gonna have to stand up for yourself.”
I couldn’t put it better myself..good luck on sunday Pats fans…

Is this what PFT is reduced to- monitoring SportsCenter and getting snarky about what the talking heads say. A bit on the lame side Florio.

Is it just me, or does Chris McKendry look like Jon Gruden with breasts?

That would be a HUGE loss for the Jets, both figuratively and literally. Dan Koppen is a quality center but he struggles against the really large NT types (Jenkins, Jamal Williams, etc…). My main concern, as a Pats fan, coming into this game was whether we’d be able to neutralize Jenkins.
Having said that, I suspect this rumor to be an example of Rex’s gamemanship. He probably leaked the rumor hoping to alter BB’s strategy. Until Jenkins is listed as out on an official channel, I won’t believe it.

You Jester fans are so cute when you think you actually have a chance to win…
..and downright hilarious after your team loses (again) and you turn on everyone, including your team and fellow fans.

Heyward….do you have a job or anything?
Every Jet article has at least 1 post from you referring to the lack of class that Jets fans have….and in the same breath you’re calling people assclowns and such.
Let me summarize just about every post of yours
“Waaaaa waaaa boooo hooooo Jests bla bla bla, no class waaaa booo hoooo assclown bla bla bla losers bla bla waaaa booo hooo waaaa sniff sniff PATRIOTS ARE THE BEST booo hoooo waaaa sniff sniff”
I might have left out a couple of whines but I think everyone gets the picture.

for a guy that condemns pro athletes that actually have an influence on the outcome…you sure do talk alot of crap. But thats understandable since you’ve only been a Pats fan the last couple of years or you would probably be embarrassed to learn how pathetic the Patriots fan base was before Parcell’s got there.

Ah yes, the tried and true bash Patriots fans template. Considering I’ve been a fan since Raymond Berry was head coach, Mosi Tatupu was pounding the ball, Tony Franklin was kicking barefoot, Stanley Morgan, Raymond Claiborne, etc, I’ve been a fan longer than a “couple years.”
I am as against the bandwagon Patriots fans as much as you are…but not embarassed at all by the prior failures of the Pats pre-Parcells…you gotta take the good with the bad.

I’ve never understood the idea of knocking a fanbase b/c their team was bad for a number of years. It’s those types of years that create die-hards. Those years test your fandom and make you yearn for and appreciate winning so much more than if you had never gone through them.
Take a look at the Steelers. Prior to the Bradshaw, Mean Joe Green era, that franchise was one of the sorriest in football. They were the equivalent of the modern-day Pirates (baseball).
Then they started winning and their fanbase became one of the most passionate loyal fanbases in the league. And as they kept winning, all the young children of that era who weren’t already attached to a team, became attached to them. That’s the process of how “bandwagon” fans get started. It’s the same for all teams. If you start winning consistently, young people who aren’t attached to a particular team will be attracted to the good teams.
The Steelers and Cowboys both prove this point. Most of their fanbase consists of people who live outside of their respective cities who began following the teams when they were kids.
The same applies to the Patriots as it will to whoever becomes the next great dynasty.
