Lions avoid blackout, too

So much for the fear that 20 percent of this year’s games could be blacked out locally.

Through two weeks, only one of 32 games was not sold out.

That’s 3.1 percent.

Of course, it’s still early in the year, and things could get worse -- especially as losses pile up in certain cities.

The latest team to elude a blackout is the Lions. They’ve sold enough tickets for the home opener against the Vikings to be broadcast in Detroit.

So the only Week One blackout will be Arizona at Jacksonville.

But take heart, Jacksonville citizens. You’ll be able to spend the day in your panic room, insulated from all media, only to emerge at midnight to watch the game on a tape-delayed basis at midnight on NFL.com, at no charge.
