Schwartz thinks Culpepper will start again, somewhere

Lions coach Jim Schwartz, to little surprise, awarded the starting quarterback job to Matthew Stafford, the player whom the team picked first in the draft and to whom they gave more than $40 million in guaranteed money.

But Schwartz has a high opinion of his backup quarterback, or so Schwartz says.

"I think we've all seen a lot of rebirths at quarterback," Schwartz said, per Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.  "The Kurt Warners, the Kerry Collins, Rich Gannon, there's been a million of them.  I think when it's all said and done, Daunte Culpepper will be there with those guys.  He's going to be a starting quarterback in this league.  I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him back leading a team again."

We agree with Schwartz.

Actually, Culpepper could still be leading the Lions again, especially if Vikings defensive end Jared Allen gives Stafford the Matt Schaub treatment on Sunday.

    Guide to journalistic integrity:

Whenever possible, elude to a negative instance from a team unassociated with the story (do this so often that it's no longer a joke, but a terrible tick that the author can't seem to control). Key targets: Vikings, Raiders, and Cowboys.

I even saw Gregg doing this earlier. You've obviously given up on rumors and have become strictly a news site, and now you're even jeopardizing that. If I wanted to read an amateur blog by someone who sold out for advertising dollars, I'd have 800 other sites to choose from. I've already unsubscribed from text alerts from NFL Mobile Live because I'm sick of reading articles that have little or nothing to do with my team, but I find myself on this site less and less now. What's the point? I can read the same story at 15 other websites without the additional comments from someone I can't believe is a grown man.

From a long-time reader of the site, thanks for ruining it.

And yet, you keep coming to this site, paying his salary. It like lemmings diving off a cliff. You don't want to, but you do it anyway.

Don't pay attention to Tabemaju and sportfan1234.

Keep the lousy boring stories coming.

Lemmings die, don't they? So in essence, you are correct. Florio is killing his readership. Good luck finding new lemmings!

May the Schwartz be with you!!

    Tabemaju,

    Well said!

But you made one serious mistake....

You NEVER expect integrity from a lawyer, politician, or speculator!

Jared Allen is on a mission this week..... Hammer on Stafford.

I think he admitted that he still comes to the site when he said, "I find myself on this site less and less now." In your effort to try and make him look stupid, you've made yourself look stupid.

You keep comin to this site less and you don't like looking at all the comments? Way to leave the longest one.

Fumblepepper will never be more than a fill in or a backup. His career is basically over!!!!

The Jared Allen Treatment is pretty brutal, eh?

Maybe Culpepper will wind up a Texan where he'll replace Q-Tip, 'er Toothpick, 'er S.O.B., er Schwaub....

This is still hands down the best football site out there.

"Whenever possible, elude to a negative instance from a team unassociated with the story (do this so often that it's no longer a joke, but a terrible tick that the author can't seem to control). Key targets: Vikings, Raiders, and Cowboys."

    REALLY!?!

WOW...so sorry to hurt your feelings. Maybe you should look in the medicine cabinet and grab some of your wife's Midol.

Do they teach reading comprehension in schools anymore?

"You keep comin to this site less and you don't like looking at all the comments? Way to leave the longest one."

Well, considering he was talking about Florio's additional comments on stories, and not the comments that people leave, you've just made yourself look as stupid as ewurm.

Stay in school, people. And if you are in school, go to class and pay attention.

    ewurm,

First of all, nowhere did I say that I was no longer reading the site. I am disappointed, simply put, in the lack of effort in pushing out honest journalism, that has deteriorated into, essentially, a blog that does nothing more than combine the stories of other blogs. The reason I mentioned NFL Mobile Live is because this is a good indication of where this site has gone. Every time I receive a text alert from PFT, I've received the same story from two other sources prior--oftentimes on NFL Mobile Live it will pull from multiple sources, so you get repeat stories, and rarely is PFT actually original or breaking in these stories.

    lionskeet,

Regardless of your awful attempt at insulting me, please tell me what separates PFT from any other news site right now? How is it different, for me as a Vikings fan, than visiting Access Vikings, which covers 90% of the stories PFT does, and visiting ESPN for the rest? That's my point. It's not a bad site, I'm just losing the understanding as to why it's unique over the many independent or sponsored blogs.

Obviously if I hated this site I wouldn't have made the comment I did, which although I know won't be read by anyone on the site that matters, I sincerely feel as though it could be better, unique, and more inspiring than it is.

    Essentially, what it was.

Regardless, I'll continue to read and support the site, because although I question the direction of the site, I truly believe that Mike's intent with the site was of what most of us are, fans of the game. Unfortunately, I do read the site less, and find myself reading many other sites that I wouldn't have bothered with a year ago.

And although I realize nobody is going to be reading my responses to my day-old comments, I had to laugh at JohnNdallas's comment, because not only am I currently in law school, I have a degree in Political Science.
