Fine tally for the week is at $345,000

On Friday, we tallied the fines we’d seen reported for the week and — after figuring in the $5,000 fines handed to a pair of Cowboys — came up with a cool $280,000 collected by the NFL or its member teams this week.

Predictably, one fine slipped past us (it’s “us” when it’s a screw-up, “I” when it’s something done right, is that correct, Florio?).  Actually, seven slipped past us, all on Philly players.

Six Eagles were fined $10,000 each for an illegal celebration after a Brent Celek touchdown against the Panthers.

Celek, center Jamaal Jackson, wide receivers DeSean Jackson and Kevin Curtis, tight end Alex Smith, and guard Stacy Andrews all got docked after Jackson went to the ground (or, according to Bob Grotz of the Delaware County Times, fell on the ground).

Eagles right tackle Winston Justice was also fined $5,000 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on an opponent in the pile.

what does the nfl do with this money?
just a wild idea but it sounds like a good start for a medical fund for retired players .

You guys really should have a new sort of watcher with fines. To show how charitable the NFL is.

Let them celebrate NFL! I can understand not wanting them to pull out sharpies etc. but the ban on group celebrations has GOT TO GO! When someone scores a touchdown, is it an effort of a single person or is it a team effort? By not allowing group celebrations it is as if the NFL is saying that football is no longer to be considered a team sport, but a celebration of the individual. Then you complain about the image of the NFL when more and more high profile players think they are bigger than they are, and the law.

Why not just do as in college….no celebration at all. Seems pretty simple to me……

Here’s another $22,500 I didn’t see in your list of fines for the week.

Funny, Curran, for you to take shots at the man on his own site.
Florio’s posts are at the very least entertaining. Yours are utterly worthless.
Squash the jealousy and go back to penning “news” on a site not called ProFootballTalk.
    Prick.
