Eagles could have trouble next week, too

The good news for the 1-1 Eagles, who were pasted nearly as badly by the Saints as the Eagles pasted the Panthers last week, is that the next visitors to Lincoln Financial Field are the 0-2 Chiefs.

The bad news? Well, where do we start?

As Jay Glazer of FOX reported earlier today, quarterback Donovan McNabb wants to play in Week Three. But his rib wasn’t just cracked -- it was broken off. So he risks serious reinjury until that thing is more fully healed. As Glazer pointed out, numbing the area could do more harm than good, since McNabb wouldn’t feel it if the rib punctures a lung.

Then there’s Kevin Kolb, who wasn’t dreadful in his first career start, completing 31 of 51 passes. But three of the 20 incompletions were also interceptions, and so there will be voices calling for Jeff Garcia, who became the toast of the town with a playoff run in 2006.

Finally, Mike Vick is eligible to play next week. He’s not expected to start, but he is expected to disrupt the rhythm of the base offense get in the game.

Moreover, running back Brian Westbrook reportedly has a sprained ankle. Again.

That said, the Chiefs will now be forced to plan for the possibility of four different quarterback taking snaps, as well as Westbrook or LeSean McCoy getting the start at running back.
