Saints pulling away from Eagles

Last year, the Saints missed the playoffs with an 8-8 record.

They were 7-3 in games played indoors, but the Saints were only 1-5 in games played outside.  (The only victory without a lid over the game came against the Chiefs.)

[Editor's note:  As a reader pointed out, one of the "home" wins was a victory over the Chargers at Wembley Stadium in London, which does not have a roof.  So they were 6-3 inside, and 2-5 outside.  But still 1-5 outside in the continental U.S.]

This year, the Saints' first outdoor game features a stiff challenge in Philly, a quality franchise despite the absence of quarterback Donovan McNabb.

So far, the Saints are sticking it to the home team.

It's 31-13 early in the third quarter.  Though the Eagles have plenty of time to turn it around, the fact that the Eagles have dug an 18-point hole in the first 35 minutes isn't all that encouraging for the ability to erase it in the next 25.

it's because of turnovers. ellis hobbs fumbled the KR to start the 2nd half at the 20 and that was a TD. then kolb threw a pick around the 20 and it was another TD.

i don't mind losing this game where mcnabb's injured. we'll beat the chiefs next week with kolb because the chiefs are the chiefs, then we have a bye, then we get mcnabb back. we'll be ok.

    Mr. Florio,

You might want to update your figures. The Saints beat the Chargers in what was technically a home game but was ultimately played under the open air of Wembley Stadium.

you won your first game Eagles because the panthers gave you all those gifts, so now you're evened out. you are a medicore team, no matter how many pro-bowl QB's you have on staff.

Many Eagles fans here have been SO incredibly obnoxious in recent times that I just had to stop in and say:

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

Spotty defense, 4-QB-muddle, poor running game, Vick not good enough to be a starting QB, messy first couple weeks, tough division...hubris is tough.
