It’s one thing to have sources that cue you in on who’s hurt, who called who a pussy, who’s mad at who, who’s getting the start, etc. Total other thing when one gets on National TV and announces he has sources that say one or more teams are violating league rules. Now considering the source he could have made it all up just to have something to say on television but if it is true, he needs to be made to ‘fess up.

Bill’s fan, WTF are you talking about??????? Are you referring to the 2001 AFC Championship game against Pittsburgh, where NE had a 14-3 lead at the half, and then won 24-17. Because Pittsburgh appears to have won the second half of that game.
Or maybe you mean 2005, when NE was leading 24-3 at halftime, and the final score was 41-27. Pittsburgh won the second half of that game as well. Which one of those games did NE “dominate” in such a way, that they gave up more second half points than they scored themselves.
Sounds like NE dominated them, in the same way that Buffalo dominated the 4th quarter in week 1, LMFAO.

Just in case you got your teams wrong, in 2004 NE lead Indy 15-0 and the final was 24-14. I’ll do the math for you, Indy won the 2nd half of that game

That must be the game you mean, because that is the only AFC Championship game, out of the 5, where NE actually won the 2nd half of the game…… If anything, the tapes were hurting their second half performance, dont you think

As a journalist, Deion does not have to reveal the source of his information either to the league or in a courtroom. So, Deion would be next to useless in regards to proving tampering charges.
Furthermore, considering Deion is part of “team Crabtree” it is more than likely that he got his information from Crabtree himself (who might or might not have been telling the whole truth and nothing but the truth).

To the guy who referred to Deion and said that he deserved the freedom of the press, OK that is all fine and well but he also runs a camp in the offseason that was broadcast on TV and he made money off of..from the network and players I’m sure. It was called Prime U and featured a few NFL players now. Undoubtedly, Deion introduced Eugene Parker and Crabtree…just liked he introduced Jerry Rice and Crabtree when Rice was making a pitch for the Debartolo Group. Now if Deion got this information first-hand like someone else said and then informed Crabtree and Parker and then went on TV to say look at me and how smart, arrogant, and cool I am because I have inside information and Crabtree knows too. Then Deion at the very least can be looked at as mentor/advisor and this is tampering. Now having proof of all this is another thing from being able to prove it. The Jets will pay and then Ryan and all your little goombah fans can give the 49ers and thier fairy fans your first round pick.

I agree with Zahar. Lets wait for some real facts to come out before we start delivering punishment. For all we know, Deion could have simply been assuming that there are two teams out there willing to pay Crabtree money based on their perceived need.
Regardless, I’d say there’s a 90 percent chance that no one gets in trouble for this. I think the Niners are clearly upset with their situation and are looking for a scapegoat.

1st things is 1st, I am seeing reports that no one contacted Crabtree’s agent, and that Deion got this information 1st hand. This means no contact was made from any team to Crabtree or his agent. 2nd what would be the point of calling up his agent to tell him that they would be willing to pay what he wants. If the 49ers don’t sign him, he goes back into the draft, in which case, anyone can pick him up. It would have more to do with who has a good draft pick. It wouldn’t matter at all if they were willing to pay him what he wants. If the Jets wanted him this season, then they would want to talk to the 49ers, not his agent. I feel like no one uses logic anymore. It doesn’t make sense for the Jets to do any of what is being claimed. If anyone should be charged with tampering, it should be Deion Sanders.

I really love the trolls on this site. Your lack of knowledge about football is only surpassed by your lack of knowledge, well, about almost everything else…
All of these comments about the Jets being punished, let alone losing a first round pick for this are ridiculous. As of NOW, there is completely no evidence that the Jets did anything. Your basis for stripping a team of a first round pick is as follows: 1) Loudmouth Deion made an off the cuff and possibly unsubstantiated remark about TWO teams willing to offer more money to Crabtree; 2) the Jets had an apparent need for a receiver; and 3) the Jets expressed interest in other receivers on the market. If you think this is anywhere near conclusive you are on some serious drugs. If and when there is more evidence then perhaps there can be a discussion about punishment. Your comments reveal that you are either San Fran homers or bitter Pats fans trolling.
I hope if anyone ever accuses you of a crime or some wrongdoing you are afforded the same opportunity to defend yourself as you think the Jets deserve.

Rams fan and I’ll be giving my input from a NEUTRAL point of view. Jets’ first round draft pick should definitely become the Niners. I’d be pissed if someone was being a blatant cheating fa.. err. However, I do think Deion NEEDS to be confronted and he should be forced to tell him who these two teams are. Someone above said he shouldn’t be because he’s giving up his sources, that’s completely ridiculous. He’s an employee of the league and he should definitely tell something that so badly hurts the league (because if the Jets are doing it to the 49′ers, which I think they are, who’s to say not every team will go ahead and start doing this in a week in and week out basis?). If nothing is done, this will be worse than the MLB not caring that the MLB players were blatantly roiding and cheating the game because there it was THE PLAYERS cheating, not the front office. The moral of the story? Rookie wage scale is needed. This wouldn’t be happening if that were in place.

if there was another team with their hand in the Dollartree’s cookie jar, my money is on Dallas. the kid is from the dallas area, and i wouldnt put it past jerry “new al davis” jones to make a power play so a first rounder with hype around him could get paid too much to play for the cowboys and then in two years either caught up on a weapons charge or get stuck holding irvin’s crack pipe.

Aren’t sportscasters at least technically journalists and therefore they aren’t required to reveal confidential sources ? And if the league were to fire him for not cooperating wouldn’t Sanders have a major lawsuit against them for improper termination ?

From what I’ve deduced from these charges and the League’s position is this investigation will not be transparent. This in itself creates a problem especially if Goodell was a former Jets employee who may not be completely neutral. This might be an indication that there needs to be some sort of judicial department in the NFL comprised of a representative of each division with any affected division being excluded from an investigation that affects teams from their division (in this case the reps from the NFC West and AFC East would be excluded). If Goodell takes no action against the Jets all H E Double toothpicks should break loose….and he’ll deserve it!

Who listens to Deion anyways? I wish the darn guy wouldn’t be on TV. Same goes for Michael Irvin. They are not role models and if Crabtree is taking advice from Deion Sanders, I surely wouldn’t want the guy on my team. Deion is nothing but a trouble maker. The 49ers are better off without Crabtree and to be honest the NFL should give them a compensatory pick at 33 and I hope Crabtree doesn’t get drafted till the 2nd round at least. Only team that might take him in the 1st round is Oakland.

I highly doubt that Goodell would come down on the Jets. Sure, he made a token punishment earlier this year because he was backed into a corner. However over the past 10-15 years the Jets have been accused of many wrongdoings. Taping coaching signals, several tampering allegations which were barely investigated, underhanded deals and cheating allegations. There have also been many player complaints about deals not being honored, and the team making many verbal promises they never had any intention of keeping, all with little to no investigation by Goodell. Keep in mind, Goodell used to work for the Jets, and he likely credits them as having a lot to do with his rise to power. He has also shown repeatedly that he will come down heavily on one person or team while doing next to nothing to another. He talks about coming down tough on player misconduct, and came down hard on some little known players, while letting well known players with proven criminal histories skate with little to no repercussion.
So the likelihood that the Jets would be finally properly chastised for their long history of cheating is slim. They SHOULD get a punishment equal to, or greater than the Patriots suffered for their infraction. The league admitted, as well as many coaches, that the infractions by the Patriots gave them little, if any, advantage on the field. This is different. The Jets have allegedly done something that assuredly affects the 49ers, whether or not Crabtree ever signs. Their attempts to lure Crabtree to them, essentially stealing the first round pick of the 49ers, would surely have an effect on the field. If they are found to have done this, nothing short of losing at least a first round pick (preferably awarding it to the 49ers) would be fair.
