Ernie Sims has "significant" shoulder injury

One of the only bright spots last year in a dreadful Detroit Lions team was linebacker Ernie Sims.

In the offseason, the Lions beefed up the position, with the addition of Larry Foote and Julian Peterson.

Now, however, Sims could be gone for a while.

Coach Jim Schwartz said Monday that Sims has a “significant” shoulder injury, according to Nicholas Cotsonika of the Detroit Free Press.

Sims suffered the injury after landing on the field awkwardly during a play.  Sims could be heard yelling in pain through field-level microphones.

Jordon Dizon and DeAndre Levy are candidates to replace one of the few non-first-round busts of the Matt Millen era.

That sucks.. I am a Viking fan, but I hate to see players like Sims go down with a significant injury.. He is one hell of a linebacker, and after watching the game yesterday between the Vikings and Lions, you can definitely see that the Lions are well on their way to being a good team.. Their team is much better then what their record indicates.. They are faster then hell on defense, and their offense will improve each week that Stafford gets on the same page as the WRs..
    Good luck Lion fans..

Shows the difference in fan base right there. You have a Vikes fan who wishes the opponent nothing but the best and compliments the other squad. Then jkorn promptly accuses him of making excuses and starts slamming the Vikes. Yo Jkorn, chill out dude, he was trying to be nice!

Jordan Dizon has better gap awareness, get better penetration and actually finishes tackles… He will get the spot…
Deandre Levy will be the back up MLB all year, esp when he got beat (badly) by V. Shincoe for a TD in yesterday’s game.

With 6 wins since the start of the 2007 season, the KC Chiefs (not the Lions) are the worst Nfl franchise.
They have 2 wins in their last 27 games, and haven’t won a playoff game since 1993.
    Awful.

Whatever man. I have been the first Viking fan that says I am worried each and every time we play the Lions. For some odd reason, they play us hard no matter what their record is, and no matter what the Vikings record is.
This year in week 2 was no exception. They played us hard, and the game was much closer then the final score indicated. Talk all you want about our “tough schedule” sarcasm, but a win is a win. The Lions wins will come soon enough.
