Ernie Sims has “significant” shoulder injury

One of the only bright spots last year in a dreadful Detroit Lions team was linebacker Ernie Sims.

In the offseason, the Lions beefed up the position, with the addition of Larry Foote and Julian Peterson.

Now, however, Sims could be gone for a while.

Coach Jim Schwartz said Monday that Sims has a “significant” shoulder injury, according to Nicholas Cotsonika of the Detroit Free Press.

Sims suffered the injury after landing on the field awkwardly during a play. Sims could be heard yelling in pain through field-level microphones.

Jordon Dizon and DeAndre Levy are candidates to replace one of the few non-first-round busts of the Matt Millen era.
